I was very relieved to learn that it is easier than I thought and quickly became routine. The design is very nice and not at all the typical eyesore that regular litter boxes can be. It does a very good job of controlling odor and is quick and easy to clean. This is especially helpful for those who have the need for multiple litter boxes as it cuts way down on the time spent emptying and cleaning them.

I have two cats, one of whom refuses to use an enclosed litter box. I have spent years using silica litter, much to the dismay of my bank account. Recently, the ammonia has overtaken my olfactory senses and the madness needed to stop. Trusting the Petsafe name I turned to my steady Eddy PetSafe! Honestly, I read a couple Reddit articles about another popular open unit fatally injuring a few little Fluffies and I avoided that brand.
My OpenSky cost $479 as part of the introductory price offer and came with a roll of flimsy litter bin bags, two deodorizing cubes and a helpful honeycomb mat to trap litter. It lacked adequate manuals, but came with a nifty QR code.
Setup was fairly easy on our wifi network. I was able to share the account easily and monitor activity on the app. That is where the problems began…………….
The unit accurately measures the weight of various sized dumbbells, but not the cats. The app does not have the ability to register cat profiles based on weights like other litter robot apps. Also, every Sunday at midnight the data is completely erased from the app; I purchased this to report data back to the veterinarian. PetSafe needs to hire customers for app development. I did call PetSafe and they were most helpful- best customer service experience ever!
I did have to purchase an additional ramp/step for nearly $60 to ensure our big boy would use the loo.
In short, I think it is the best, safest open unit on the market with these options. Do not purchase it if you are expecting it to provide reliable weights or if you are looking for historical data to be stored on an app (you could always screenshot it each week). I think if PetSafe fixes these issues it will be worth the investment; otherwise, there are open units that are under $200 without an app. The choice is yours. Petsafe customer service A+++

I have another automatic litter box that my younger cats like and use daily, but my older cat refused to use it because he hates closed in litter boxes. I have had to hand scoop his box every day, despite thinking the automatic one would make my life easier. Well, this one actually does! Because it is open at the top he will use it and I do not have to scoop anymore! Plus, this one is easier to clean than the more closed one I have for my other kitties (when he has smearing issues). It was easy to put together and it works perfectly. The size is perfect and it is made really well. The price is comparable to most other good quality automatic litter boxes, too. I recommend!

There’s barely any odor, and the litter I use seems to work just fine in it. My adult short-haired cat fits comfortably inside, she stepped in and used it without hesitation, so I guess she approves too (•ω•)ﾉ♡ I usually just empty the waste bag once a week, and it’s been allowing me to be a bit lazy without things getting gross. Cleaning the box itself is also easy, and the size doesn’t take up too much space in my room. The quality looks fine, it a little bit heavy, so it does not moved a lot. No major complaints for now
