I’ve always wanted to try an automatic litter box because to be honest- I’m lazy lol. Anything that helps me clean is a win for me. I also love that it’s supposed to cut down on the smell, as it will clean quickly after every use. I like that it has an open top- I’ve heard some crazy stories about the ones that fully close getting stuck, so glad thats not something I have to worry about. It does look a little tall for a kitten to start using, but worst case scenario, I think I can jerry-rig some temporary steps or something to help them get inside until they grow a little taller. Very very excited to try this- I will update once I’ve got my kitten and started using it!

First, the basics. I’ve had cats my whole life and scooping litter has been really bothered me. I’ve been using the Breeze pellet system for the last 7 years for my 2 adult cats. Prior to that, I used clumping cat litter.
Set up was pretty easy and I didn’t have any issues getting the box to connect to the app. I admit that I’m a little nervous to use the automated features. I have the litter box set up in my laundry room which I am in several times every day so I just reach down and hit the bottom when I’m in the room to start the cleaning process. It’s pretty quiet.
I did give it a try with pellet litter to see how it would handle it and it doesn’t work at all. The box thinks the pellets are waste and dumps them all into the bottom tray. I was worried about the size of this but it isn’t a problem. I keep my litter boxes underneath a table and even with the legs giving this box extra height, it still fit under the table.
One of my cats took to the box right away. The other never really took to it. It is worth noting that even after pressing the button several times after adding litter, the app would not correctly display the weight of one of my cats. The cat is in the 9 pound range and the app kept telling me the cat weighed 3 pounds (which caused some initial panic until I determined it was wrong). It does seem fairly accurate for my larger cat who uses the box regularly. I do love this feature so I can track her weight and litter box usage to catch any problems before they are obvious.
The litter box works as advertised. The waste dumps to the bottom and I only have to change the bag once per week. There are small pieces of waste that get trapped in the sifter though so it’s not completely hands off, but I definitely have to clean this less often than my other boxes.
But now my big issue… I absolutely despise clumping litter and the mess it creates. My laundry room is downstairs and tiled. The rest of the downstairs is hard wood. Even with using the mat that comes with this box, litter is being tracked all around my downstairs. I added a second mat to the doorway of the laundry room and that has helped but not eliminated the mess. One of my kids has even begged me to stop using this box because they hate the mess so much. I hope someone comes up with a way to reduce the tracking because otherwise, I think my days of using this box are numbered. I really wish there was a way to use pellet litter with this because any time I’m saving from not scooping litter is now being spent sweeping and vacuuming.
