Customer Reviews Summary

The Samsung 120″ The Premiere LSP7T 4K Smart Laser Projector has garnered significant attention due to its unique blend of advanced features, vivid picture quality, and ease of use. From the reviews, it’s clear that this product has impressed many users with its home-theater-like experience, bright visuals, and built-in smart features. However, there are some recurring issues, especially with long-term reliability and setup complexities. The majority of customers are pleased with the overall performance, particularly for movie nights and gaming, while a small portion of users encountered problems, ranging from defective units to software glitches.

PROS

  • Picture Quality: Many users praised the projector’s crisp, clear image quality. “The picture quality is fantastic, and the colors are vivid,” shared one reviewer. Even in well-lit rooms, some users reported being able to enjoy a reasonably bright image, particularly with ALR screens.

  • Brightness: Users were impressed with the projector’s ability to function well in both dark and moderately lit environments. “In full sunlight with six windows, the picture is certainly not the same, but unlike cheaper projectors, this one is usable in daylight,” noted one user. The high brightness levels also helped make images pop, delivering an immersive experience in home theater settings.

  • Sound Quality: The built-in speakers received commendations for being surprisingly loud and sufficient for most use cases. “The built-in sound is good, and I didn’t even need a soundbar,” a customer remarked. This makes it a solid standalone option for users not looking to invest in external sound systems.

  • Ease of Setup: Several users appreciated how simple the projector was to set up. “It only took 15 minutes, and I was ready to go,” one reviewer highlighted. For many, it was almost plug-and-play, with minimal adjustments needed to achieve a satisfying result.

  • Smart Features and App Integration: Customers found the inclusion of smart features, like built-in streaming apps, a bonus. “Netflix runs natively, and the integration with my antenna for local channels was seamless,” mentioned one user. This adds to the versatility of the projector, making it comparable to a modern smart TV in terms of functionality.

CONS

  • Quality Control Issues: A recurring theme in the negative reviews was defective units, with some users reporting problems right out of the box. “My unit didn’t show an image at all—it was DOA,” a customer shared, expressing frustration with needing multiple repairs. Another reviewer had a similar experience when their projector stopped working within weeks.

  • Software Glitches and Connectivity Problems: Some customers encountered bugs with the software, particularly when using HDMI ports or wireless features. “The second HDMI port lost signal, and the sound kept cutting out,” a user explained. Others mentioned the projector turning on randomly or connectivity issues with other devices.

  • Not Ideal in Bright Rooms: While the projector performs well in dim environments, it struggles in bright settings. “When the lights are on, the image becomes washed out,” noted one reviewer. This makes it less suitable for bright, sunlit rooms unless paired with specialized screens.

  • Price vs. Value: A few reviewers questioned whether the projector was worth its high price tag. “For what I paid, I expected better durability and fewer issues,” one user commented after their projector needed multiple repairs. The pricing, especially compared to other models in the same range, was a concern for some.

  • Limited Adjustability and Setup Complexity: Several customers pointed out that the projector’s image adjustment options were limited, and positioning the unit correctly was essential but tricky. “The elevation and distance need to be perfect for the best image,” a customer advised. This can make setup frustrating, especially in spaces with unconventional layouts.

Who Should Buy?

The Samsung 120″ The Premiere LSP7T is ideal for home entertainment enthusiasts looking to create a true cinema experience at home. It’s perfect for those who prioritize image quality and immersive sound, especially for movie nights, gaming, and sports. If you are looking for a projector that’s easy to set up and packed with smart features, this model could be a good fit. It’s also suitable for users who plan to use it in rooms with controlled lighting or those who invest in a good ALR screen to enhance brightness in brighter settings. However, it’s not recommended for those who need a projector for constantly bright rooms or are looking for a completely hassle-free experience in terms of setup and long-term use.

Do Users Recommend This Product?

Most users recommend the Samsung LSP7T, especially those who had a positive experience with the projector’s impressive visuals and ease of use. “It blew my mind how easy it is to use, just like a TV,” said one customer. Another noted, “I haven’t had any issues with it so far, and the picture is bright, colorful, and huge,” indicating that for many, it lives up to expectations.

However, some users were less enthusiastic, particularly those who experienced hardware issues or found the projector lacking in certain areas like brightness or HDR performance. “For the price, I expected fewer bugs and a more polished product,” commented a dissatisfied user. Despite these issues, most reviewers still found the positives to outweigh the negatives, particularly if the projector was functioning as intended.

In summary, the LSP7T is highly recommended by users who value its performance, ease of use, and built-in features but may not be ideal for those who are concerned about potential quality control or need a projector for well-lit environments.

Review of 120 and 130. 130 is amazing

its good. Gaming does not have noticeable delay, but alot of these things are broken. Read the reviews. Mine came to my home and the 2nd hdmi port loses signal. Now the sound keeps cutting out. Samsung need to work the bugs out. I herd the 130 one is better built. I like this projector alot and I’m going to see if the 130 is better. If so im keeping it. But alot of them are defective. Be aware. Up date. I bought the 130. I got it used because 6,500 was just too much. All in all after taxes I paid 6000. Still high. Now. The three laser will blow you away. I’ve always wanted a projector that just did not have that washed out look. I want the colors to be as vivid as an oled or a qled. This thing is way more vivid than an oled. imagine having a laser pointer and point it at the wall. Those are your colors. You have laser colors. Deep vivid saturated blues, red, greens purple and the black are deep. Im keeping it. Now there are issues. The hdmi port has not gone out but the sound has stopped once in a while in the middle of a movie. The sound on the 130 is incredible. Oh my gosh this thing as speakes. Way way louder then the 120. I have gone through projector and projector to find the right one. I notice those small things that normal customers don’t. There is no ghosting when playing games. The input lag is good. I dont know what it is but its very very reasonable. If you owned the optimal p2, its better then that one. I was impressed by the p2 as well but the game input lag was ridiculous. Oh and the Epson ls5000. Thise colors are sooo washed out but game lag is almost not even there. The ls3000 has better colors but you won’t get a 4k picture. Its pretty crisp though and the colors are good. Not as good as the optima p2. You want amazing looking colors deep black crisp picture and a banging sound system the samsung is it. Its good. Samsung needs to iron out the kinks though. Once they do. Wow just wow.

Excellent Picture with Great Smart TV features

I was looking for an UST projector and really wanted the LG HU85LA projector which is generally considered one of the best UST projectors out there, but was hard pressed to spend that much and settled on this as a more cost effective approach. If you don’t care about the smart TV features and are just going to use it with an Apple TV or something, then you’d probably be better off with the VAVA or an Optoma. I like having only one remote though and think Android TV sucks.

I was a little worried about color accuracy as it uses a color wheel instead of 3 lasers like the LG, but I honestly don’t think I’d be able to tell a difference. The picture looks great. The image quality does suffer a little bit in super dark scenes, especially in the middle of the day, but then a brightly lit scene will come on and just completely blow you away, so for the increase in size I’d say it is worth it.

I bought this with the VAVA 100″ light rejecting screen which does a great job of making the screen usable in the day time. That being said, the picture looked pretty dang good on my extremely dark green wall in dim light.

I’ve played some turned based games on my switch on the projector and haven’t noticed any lag, but that’s hardly a great test. If your into twitchy shooters get a TV with a high refresh rate and lower lag.

One thing that is annoying with these UST projectors is they need to be low to the ground and don’t leave room for a sound bar. Luckily I found a great stand that is low enough and has a space for a sound bar (And can be even lower if you leave off the bottom legs) on WayFair, Wolla TV Stand for TVs up to 65″: https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/zipcode-design-wolla-tv-stand-for-tvs-up-to-65-ar2314.html?piid=32507645

Overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase and have not had any issues with it so far. The picture is bright, colorful, and huge. The interface is easy to use and has almost every app I could want (No NBA TV sadly, but that’s an NBA issue as it is missing from most smart TVs).

WITHOUT A SCREEN!!!

This is for everybody that wondered if you could get away with having NO PROJECTOR SCREEN. Short answer is YES as you can see all four pictures uploaded are displayed on nothing, but my imperfect white wall. Also to note the specifications say 120” this is actually 130” so I believe it’s capable of stretching a little as you can see. ENJOY THE MASSIVE EXPERIENCE!!!

My experience with 7t

Have been using the 7t model for a month in my apartment living room. Even paired it with a good soundbar. Had to return the soundbar last week as the sound from the projector is very good for most viewing. Have paired it with my Bluetooth headset for a more refined sound experience.

I project it on to my white wall (No ALR screen yet) and it is very good even when it is not fully dark. Note, all projector images will be washed out if you have bright ambient light.

The most important thing about this projector is it is super easy to setup, just connect to power socket and internet and you are good to go! Samsung App Store has all the major apps for streaming that you can download. I have now connected my cable box as well (watch mainly local games)

If you are wondering 7t vs 9t, would recommend 7t – with the price difference of 2.5k to 3K you can get a great ALR screen and have money left for a sound system as well!

Off course, there are cheaper Chinese models with greater specs on paper than Samsung, it all comes down to App Store and user experience. I find Samsung products to be more reliable and closer. Using this projector is lot like their TV and tablet/Phone experience.

Good while it lasted

It’s a cool product, and I specifically went with this over other models because it has an ATSC tuner, which is great. We enjoyed it for three weeks. Then the day before the Super Bowl, the picture went out. The sound still works, but the image is a black glow. We can’t even access settings or menus. Hopefully the warranty process is smooth, but quite frankly, a product that sells for thousands of dollars needs to be of better quality.

UPDATE: The total turnaround time for the repair, with shipping, was a week and a half. The repaired device worked well for two days until we started experiencing startup problems at least once or twice per day. This time, however, the startup problems could be solved by unplugging the power and restarting. Still not acceptable. A little internet research said that turning off HDMI-CEC would fix the startup problem, so we went ahead and turned that off. It seems to be functioning normally now, but as mentioned originally, these are all quality problems that an expensive piece of equipment shouldn’t have.

SOUND: Samsung focuses much of their advertising on how great the audio is. By design, it’s basically a soundbar bolted to the front of the device, which is an ideal layout. While the sound certainly isn’t bad, it’s worth noting that you cannot add a subwoofer without completely excluding the projector speakers and replacing them with externals. This is a frustrating oversight from what is supposed to be one of the world’s top technology companies.

THE ONLY PROJECTOR FOR A MAN CAVE

This UST is an amazing machine. I opted for the 7 model as I only have room for a 93” screen as of now. The 9 model would have been preferred with the shorter throw and triple laser but this one is half the cost and still amazing. I must say I was not expecting the quality this machine can create. Standard mode is my favorite setting. Only downside is you can’t adjust brightness just image mode. EARC is also a plus. Worth the 4K but make sure you have a ALR/CLR screen if you will use with ceiling lights on at night. Daytime it isn’t bad but may need dynamic mode to up the brightness to the max. I will use at night mostly so it will be perfect to replace my Epson 1450. Make sure you watch a 4K video from Amazon and your mouth will drop. OLED quality in a darker room. Only downside is my screen bezel is not flat with the screen so the throw is not perfect on the bottom edge. Will totally need a thin flat bezel for the best display.
