Broken Port Out of the Box – horrible customer support

While in theory this could have been fixed (the first customer service rep I spoke with said a tech could come to my home to fix it – a falsehood in the end), the process to reach help at Samsung borders on nightmarish… reps who don’t know their products, reps who do not listen to what the issue is, but stick with their scripts… calls cut off, others not returned… and then the requirement to ship it to them for repair, be done a monitor for weeks, and if it gets further damage it’s on me – no thank you. If you take a look at other reviews you’ll see all or part of the above happening to others. Too bad. It’s otherwise a nice product. But without a USB-C port, its value plummets.

For the life of me can’t get the color adjusted well. I wasn’t expecting professional color accuracy or anything but I’ve never had banding this bad on a monitor. Have tried pretty much all that I know to do. Drivers are updated, fiddled with every setting, searched forums, multiple cables, all to no avail.
The only thing I haven’t yet been able to try is a firmware update on the monitor, but I’m not overly hopeful and am annoyed that I have to buy a cable to do it as the monitor can’t do firmware updates over the included USB-C.
My TV is also a Samsung, and although I’ve been happy with it, it too struggles with color a bit with over saturated reds. After this experience I don’t think I will be buying Samsung again.
Pic included is the banding on the gradient of the win11 settings window. It’s not nearly so severe in person as it came across on the photo, but is highly visible, and is horrific compared to my other monitors.

Turns out it is old DisplayPort technology 1.2. The monitor refused to stay in sleep mode, Mac Mini would go to sleep, and the monitor would keep flashing it was going to sleep and keep flashing it was going to sleep numerous times, then sleep for 30 min to an hour, then start flashing going into sleep mode numerous times.
Samsung told me I was going to get an in-home service call after calling requesting repair, and an hour after hanging up the phone they changed the story to I was required to ship it to them for repair…
I had to make the repair request, did it once on November 19th they informed me I would be contacted in 24 hour to make the appointment, never heard back so called back on November 22nd where they started it again, got it all set-up for in-home service and then changed to me shipping it out.
So with all that, I am returning this junk 2021 monitor with 2015 technology. -
