Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Stunning Visual Performance: The 4K Quantum Mini-LED display provides vibrant colors, high brightness, and deep blacks that many reviewers compare favorably to OLED technology, making it excellent for HDR content.
  • Excellent Gaming Features: With a 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, and HDMI 2.1 support, it delivers a smooth and immersive experience for both high-end PC rigs and next-gen consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X.
  • Versatile Hybrid Functionality: It successfully bridges the gap between a high-end gaming monitor and a Smart TV, featuring built-in streaming apps, decent integrated speakers, and a convenient remote control for media consumption.

Cons

  • Frustrating Software Interface: The Tizen OS is frequently described as slow, laggy, and overly complex, with users particularly annoyed by the lack of a dedicated input-switching button on the remote.
  • Persistent Connectivity Bugs: Users report significant issues with the monitor failing to wake from sleep, losing signals on DisplayPort, and experiencing random flickering or artifacts that often require a hard reset.
  • Noticeable Motion Artifacts: As a VA panel, it suffers from ghosting and black smearing during fast-paced scenes or when scrolling through text, and the viewing angles can cause color shifting at the edges of the large screen.

I decided to sell my 48″ LG CX . Never used it as a TV and the user interface can be annoying for PC and PS5 use. I am not a pixel peeper but have owned several high end monitors over time.
There has been plenty of negative feedback surrounding the Neo G7. When it went on sale for 499 I decided to give it a try. Supports 144Hz via displayport and 120Hz via HDMI on the PS5. I think the picture quality for gaming is outstanding. Didn’t see any need to adjust the color . Looks fine to me
One small quirk is that there is no input button on the remote but not to worry. Shut off all of the start up options in the settings and just hit the home button. You can then choose what input you want to select

Overall I’m very happy with it. I don’t find the smart tv menus slow like some people do. I have zero issues with my pc waking up with the display port (I think some people may not be using the included USB that goes from your pc to the monitor, maybe that is what prevents those issues). The display does have a lot settings that could use some changing, but just search the model on YouTube for that. I don’t notice motion blue after changing some settings around either. Also for those wanting more info on the flex move screen feature, you have to hold down the home button on the remote. It brings up a menu then scroll to the right to flex move screen. Then it lets you size up and down the display and move it where ever. Also gsync works perfectly still while it’s downsized, and the looks fantastic since the screen being smaller is super sampled. The speakers on this monitor are great also! Very happy overall!

  4. Great monitor for gaming

I use this monitor for both gaming and computing. The colors and the response time are great for gaming. When I’m doing schoolwork, it sometimes switches inputs on its own but other than that I love it

Works perfectly with my computer, and has a ton of apps already installed which gives me both a monitor and a tv that runs 4k perfectly

So far gaming wise this monitor is pretty good in my opinion for a VA panel. Ghosting isn’t bad on gaming but for sports it’s very bad in my opinion. Watching Netflix or others streaming apps it is less noticeable but anything with sports is bad. Its colors are great but you have to calibrate as it doesn’t look good out of the box. I wouldn’t get it if you’re gonna be gaming on pc or if you’re gonna watch sports on it. Colors are great and blacks are pretty good. I wouldn’t buy it for over 500 dollars though.

Picture is incredible. You will have to calibrate it out of the box though. Motion blur and ghosting tests were perfect. If you’re having issues verify your HDMI cable is 2.1 and using chrome for the test. Only issue ive had is disconnects when a game opens at the wrong resultion and you change it back to 4k. This monitor was an absolute steal at $500.

  9. Not even worth it at $499

I bought the 43″ Neo G7 when it was on sale for $499.00 and packed it up and returned it 3 days later.

Loved the size and the matte coating on the screen, and that’s it.

The OSD is a complete mess especially if you’re using more than one input source. This is a TV with a TV OSD that is being labeled as a monitor.

When my PC would go to sleep and I would wake it up by moving the mouse or hitting a key on the keyboard the “monitor” would come on but immediately go to a screen saying no input detected and start a countdown to go back to sleep. I would either have to unplug and re-plug in my HDMI 2.1 or DP cable (I tried multiple of both to rule out a cable issue) or completely shut down and restart my PC for the “monitor” to recognize the input again, the firmware was up to date.

The 43″ model only has 360 dimming zones with nowhere the performance of the 32″ Neo G7 or G8.

  10. A hybrid with strengths and weaknesses

My specific use is for sim racing and ps5, not as a main monitor. Having another large true monitor as main is easy to spot what is keeping the G7 from true monitor status. Also I got this on a half off sale. At this price point of $499 is an absolute win. At $999 one needs to identify the specific features wanted, and the G7 is loaded. The image quality and colors is amazing, ps5 games come to life with image and high fps (spider man). My PC is connected via Display Port and sim racing is so good looking and smooth.

It wont be replacing my main monitor mainly because it does not have the same pure functionality. However as I am using it this hybrid is an absolute beast. I would prefer to see the smart tv features taken out and make this a pure monitor. However as it stands provides a lot of usage for multiple scenarios.
