Pros & Cons
Pros
- Immersive Ultrawide Experience: The 49-inch screen with a 1000R curve provides an unparalleled immersive experience for gaming and effectively replaces multi-monitor setups. Users appreciate the massive screen real estate that allows for seamless multitasking without the distraction of bezels.
- High-End Performance Specs: With a 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time, the monitor delivers buttery-smooth visuals that are ideal for competitive gaming. The DQHD resolution ensures that text and graphics remain sharp, making it a powerful tool for both play and professional productivity.
- Versatile Multitasking Features: The Picture-in-Picture (PIP) and Picture-by-Picture (PBP) options are highly praised for allowing users to display multiple inputs simultaneously. This is particularly valued by traders and office workers who need to manage several applications or computers at once.
Cons
- Reliability and Power Failures: A significant number of reviewers reported the monitor suddenly dying or failing to power on after only a few months of use. Many users experienced these failures shortly after the one-year warranty expired, leading to frustrations over repairability and product longevity.
- Quality Control Issues: Many units arrived with or developed defects such as dead pixels, horizontal scan lines, and significant backlight bleed. Some customers had to go through multiple exchanges before receiving a unit that met acceptable quality standards.
- Design and Ergonomic Flaws: The included stand is noted for being extremely large and deep, consuming a significant amount of desk space. Additionally, the port placement is criticized for being difficult to access and requiring cables to be bent at awkward angles to fit.

Sub-par
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Josh Harding April 19, 2025Review source: AmazonIt was a good monitor, with special emphasis on was. After using this monitor for about 6 months, it died just like the previous g49 monitor before it. My computer restarted and unfortunately the monitor did not follow suit. I believe the power supply failed from the reboot. I really enjoyed using the g49 for gaming but I won’t be getting another due to the sub-par reliability and quality of the power issues.

Best Work Monitor Ever!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.JosiahT April 18, 2025Review source: BestbuyI work from home and tried the 3 screen method, but the slight lag between each screen was getting kind of annoying, so having this similar larger screen setup has been a game changer. The pixels are super bright and colorful, and it optimized to my MacBook pretty seamlessly. I am glad I got the protection plan as well since I have kids. Cannot wait to get so much use out of this!

Gorgeous
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.ShortBus April 16, 2025Review source: AmazonYou would think it’s too wide but no it’s perfectly curved to make it disappear into your peripheral the only issue is some games don’t support the full resolution even then the black bars aren’t bad the full 240hz is amazing

I was excited about the monitor until….
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.GiiZMoO17 April 15, 2025Review source: BestbuyI played for a couple of hours, this monitor produces a lot heat, and its going to irritate your eyes and burn your face. You warn up your tortillas with this monitor. I usually play 3-5 hours of CoD with the boys now I cant last more than 3 hour due to my eyes and face burning due to the heat. Coming from Alienware monitors, I would say its a disappointment. And I like Samsung, all of our TVs are samsung, but I think im going to return this and go with alienware.

An incredible experience for the price
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Craizee April 14, 2025Review source: BestbuyHistorically, I have operated with a multi-monitor setup, and with mixed success. Not only do I play games (racing sims, survival/crafting rpg’s, fps’s), I also work with large data sets as part of my job. When viewing spreadsheets or writing R/Python code, it is hand to have a larger, uninterrupted screen-viewing area. I went into BestBuy looking for an Ultrawide monitor, they didn’t have the AMD FreeSync one in-store, but they honored the sale that was on at the time for the NVidia equivalent. So let’s talk features:
Color vividness: This is probably the most vibrant out-of-the-box monitor I’ve ever owned. The HDR10 and color depth is incredible.
Refresh rate/smoothness/tearing: I use the AMD FreeSync technology with my AMD setup (5900X CPU, 6900 XT GPU), and I have never experienced blurring, tearing, or stuttering with this setup playing any of my games. Also, when I was running two monitors side-by-side, I constantly had issues with one display not coming on and I’d have to power cycle them, but that is solved with the single-display setup.
Gaming quality: This monitor comes in really handy with the racing sims and fps games as it provides you with a really wide FOV. Also, the smoothness of the screen and the adaptability of the FreeSync technology makes for a good experience uninterrupted by glitches that jolt you out of gaming immersion.
Space required and setup: this can be a challenge, and I’ll be honest, this monitor takes up a lot of space as it is curved. It is also very heavy (it has to be to keep it stable), and the initial physical setup/assembly/unboxing, which I did solo, was challenging.
Settings and features: This gives you a LOT of options, profiles, on-screen reticle (which comes in handy for games such as Kingdom Come: Deliverance where archery without the reticle is very difficult).
Overall value: You can definitely shell out a ton of cash for larger monitors, but this was surprisingly affordable, and despite a friend of mine telling me that ultrawide monitors sometimes have game compatibility issues with older games, I have not experienced that as you can set the display resolution to place black bars on either side and render the game in its native res.
Great value, 100% recommend.Read More

Not impressed, Bad experience.
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.nic April 12, 2025Review source: AmazonWhen it was working, it worked fantastic. Stopped working after 9 months, I shut it off every night and one evening it just powered off while using and it never turned back on, and still nothing. As of right now Amazons warranty is doing nothing saying talk to the manufacturer and Samsung’s warranty department is garbage and no help at all, just back and forth emails with LONG in between responses and I feel like they’re just waiting for my warranty to run out… Again When it was working, it worked fantastic. I like Samsung products but this is a letdown.

Amazing Quality!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.James April 11, 2025Review source: BestbuyWOW. The resolution is INSANE. Works with everything you need. Takes the place of 3 monitors in one. The size is way larger than expected. I didn’t expect my desk to bow under the pressure and weight of the stand but it did. It’s still standing but long term – going to have to get a much wider desk to comfortably fit this monitor. It’s amazing. Works great for video editing, game play, advertisement development, and even movie night. The curvature takes some getting used to but it’s not a big deal and you’ll adapt quickly. It’s truly one of a kind. Hated it at first, grew to love it more than all the countless connections of 2 and even 3 monitors.

Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Runamukus April 11, 2025Review source: AmazonExcellent color, easy to setup, great for work or gaming. I use it for both work and gaming and I’m very happy with the resolution. The curvature provides more in depth feel when using it for gaming. This is a great monitor and I’d recommend it to friends and family.
