SAMSUNG 32-Inch Odyssey G50D.
Old monitor 24” 1080p.Good:
1. Well worth the $279 I paid. Not worth $429, to me anyway.
2. Greatly adjustable. Raise it. Tilt it. Turn it. I’ve been looking at monitors for a long time.
One of the few 32″ with this much adjustability under $300.
3. Colors are fantastic. Vibrant colors with several presets. White is white. Black is black.
4. Text readability is fantastic.
5. Streaming shows are fantastic!! Gordon Ramsay never looked better.
6. GTA 5 ran great. Game looks sooo much better. Text is so much easier to read compared to old monitor.
7. IMO this monitor would be great for 95% of the gamers. Probably will fall short for the elite players.Bad:
1. Had a very hard time time getting display to power on. Screen kept telling me no signal. I tried the cable I had been using first. Then I tried the new cable that came with monitor (displayport), still nothing. I finally started moving cables around on the back of the video card (new 3060). There was only one port on card where the monitor would turn on. I feel the monitor should work no matter where its plugged in IMO. Never had this problem before. Also the power light has never came on.2. The ring that goes on the back and attaches to the monitor… I was never able to get it to attach. I spent a huge amount of time, then I threw it back in the box.
These negatives did not affect the quality, just the time it took to figure it out. So, 5 stars.
I tried this monitor because its brand new here, latest tech. (Risky? Now that I have it, NO!). Plus its a Samsung. Now that I have seen the new monitor against my old one. I want another new one… someday maybe.
Whoever said size doesn’t matter was way off. Must have been a guy, certainly not his wife.

The thing is, I can’t with my hardware setup, which means it’s going to bug me each time.

I am a photographer and I spend 12-14hrs a day staring at the monitor so really appreciate the anti-glare screen. The monitor stand is one of the most flexible I have ever used. Rotating, tilting and adjusting the height is a breeze. I also play games, but I am not a hardcore gamer. As such I have never picked up a “gaming” monitor until now. I can absolutely see the difference in my old monitor.

I have a GIGABYTE GeForce RTX™ 3060 Ti VISION in my tower and again picture is great.
So why only a 4 rating? Well my first gripe is the power on or Standby LED does not work, but I do not find this enough (so far) to drag it back to Best Buy for an exchange.
The other problem is a general lack of information on setup. My other monitor’s in the past I could put in standby and when the I started the computer they would start up even if it had been days.
This Monitor is a little tricky as I have to set the hours I want it in standby. This made it slightly more complicated because again the on/standby LED doesn’t work.
Otherwise besides their is a general lack of 3rd party info out there due to the fact it was just released in April of 2024.
All that said I love the picture on this monitor no matter if gaming, surfing the net or viewing my wife’s hi-def photography. I still recommend it! -

The brights bleed through more on this but the refresh time is much better than the 4k va panel and did it with less ghosting. If you’re looking for a solid mid range choice for the cash this is it. Would be excellent for a 4070 tower pc build for full qhd gaming with high fps. Wait for it to go on sale before picking it up. $450 would be a little steep for it, since for another $50 you be within striking distance for a 4k 144hz ips monitor.

Nice Modern and Sleek Design

The monitor has a beautiful and modern design with thin bezels which give the screen the effect that it is larger than it is.
The resolution is clear and razor-sharp. The higher refresh rate is an added bonus because it keeps the images clear during fast-moving action without blur or lag. Details can be seen clearly, especially when looking at small print images or wording.
I can’t say that I have experienced the 180 Hz refresh rate, but it certainly is a strong 120 Hz.
I like the glossy finish over the matte finish. It gives it a cleaning looking image in my opinion.
The image can be adjusted to tilt forward or backward which I use often, especially if there is a glare.
The screen can also be rotated in a vertical position although I have not had a need to do that.
This is a really nice monitor that will more than exceed most individual’s needs.

Josh June 30, 2024Review source: AmazonThis is a nice monitor. Worked well with my 4070ti. I had to play around with some of the settings to get it into the higher refresh rates. Why not default to auto/higher frame rates? It’s a Samsung IPS display so I expected it to look nice and it does.
Downsides:
The plastic bezels are incredibly small, but the actual screen is a few millimeters inset.
Only HDR400. That’s not even really HDR. Seriously, I couldn’t see any difference between this and the 10 year old standard monitor I was using. My other monitor is HDR600 and there’s a noticeable difference.
Only 1440p. It’s 2024, 4k monitors with these specs aren’t that much more expensive. -
Beautiful screen

My only real issue is with the arm mounting, I didn’t bother with the stand cuz I already had the arm ready for it, the stand seems really nice and sturdy, but when putting the arm mounting bracket on I had to leave it about halfway unscrewed because I couldn’t slip the bracket into the arm with it fully screwed in. Needless to say, it was sketchy. Other than that I love everything about this screen.
