Samsung Q80D QLED 4K Smart Tizen TV

It is wild to me that this samsung forces you to interact with it’s clunky UI “hub”. To switch inputs you have to go into a sub menu that takes forever to load. If you accidentally press the home button on the remote, you have to now search through potentially multiple different menus to find the input you are looking for to edit the hub. I had an older model Samsung TV that didn’t force you into this cesspool of advertisements and “recommended” options. I don’t think I’d ever buy a Samsung TV again. Literally I just want a basic ass button or option to switch to the different inputs without scrolling through menu after menu.

To start with I ordered this lemon from Samsung Direct. Better price. Delivered our TV yesterday. The setup went fairly simple until I tried to add two new apps to the home menu. It doesn’t do it the way our old, two-year-old Samsung TV did it which was really simple, so I called customer support. Hours on the phone with a lady in tech support who knew even less than I did about this model. Wasted hours on the phone before she contacted a supervisor who told her how to do it which was much different. New TV also will not update. It gets to 81% than freezes and then says update failed. Performed this update many times and with the same result. Let tech support access my tv where she bumbled around for another hour than says she need to do a reset in smart things. Well, that wiped out all my usernames and passwords from ALL of my apps and had to start from the beginning again because the TV now couldn’t download saved info from the old Samsung TV this time so I had to input it all over again which took another hour and it still will not complete an update! So it can’t complete an update and while watching the TV last night every four to seven minutes the audio disappears for 1-3 seconds. On the phone again with tech support and there asking me to do the same dam thing they asked me to do again. Over and over again, it’s like trying to beat a dead horse. So last tech sends me over to the return department and you have to tell them the whole story again and since her system does not show the TV as delivered, she can’t process a return yet and wanted me to talk to another rep from Samsung Care because I bought the extended warranty. He can’t do anything because this TV is under manufactures warranty so he’s switching me back to the return department and who do you think answers the phone, Tech Support! It’s like starting the whole process all over again but now this one wants to blame my internet. Told her I wasn’t going there because my internet fantastic. So now my brand new TV is now going to be taken apart some flunky just to be told “there’s something wrong with it” and since both my wife and I are in our 60’s and I’m disabled we can’t get this dam thing back in the box and Samsung, who sold us this lemon, won’t bring a new one out to us and take the old one back, We now have no choice but to wait for a flunky to come out and try to fix this piece of JUNK! Much more to our nightmare but too exhausted to explain it. Buyer beware!

The picture was good for about 10 hours before it developed a vertical line on the left side. So annoying after paying someone to help me get it out of the box and locate it to the TV stand. Now I have to stay home and wait for UPS to come pick it up.

There is so much I can say about this TV but you can just read that in the description so let me get to the point. The features on this TV are numerous but let me tell you my favorites. The different color modes allow you to choose how vibrant, sharp and bright you wish the unit to be. I found the presets are pretty good but I fine tuned mine with a color graph that you see late at night on shutdown channels. After doing so I got he TV to look even better and more vivid than I imagined. The colors really stand out!

The Dolby Atlas motion tracking makes it seem as the voices or sounds are coming from that part of the screen which to me is ground breaking! It has a decent amount of amplification so unless your an audiophile you don’t need extra speakers.

The ports are plentiful with 4 HDMI and 2 USB so you can hook your favorite devices up with no issues.

It connects to Alexa allowing to to vocally control all settings. The remote requires NO BATTERIES as it is solar. Just leave it on the coffee table and when you turn a light on in the room or the sun shines it charges.

It is very easy to operate, stream your favorite channels, hop on the internet and even project from your smartphone in a matter of seconds.

The refresh rate is more than accommodating especially for a unit boasting all these features and then some at such a great price!

Samsung has been at this for a long time and has some of the best imagery and sound out there. If you are wondering if you should pull the trigger on this I am telling you to wonder new more. You will be happy.

Warning!! You will get addicted and spoiled to watching this great unit!!

Picture brightness, sound and value excellent.
My opinion there is a manufacture defect on center pedestal. 55 inch heavy TV cannot hold up on this light plastic. Pedestal was installed per instructions.
Bad Problem: TV toppled over cabinet. Bottom plastic frame cracked. Pedestal cracked in half. I’m very unhappy on this cheap pedestal. Making plans returning TV.

I purchased this 65″ Samsung QLED to replace my Sony 55″ LED television just because I wanted to upgrade, and it was a great price. I love this television! The color and clarity are unbelievable. I like watching football and it is so clear you can actually see the scratches and sweat on the players helmets. Samsung is a quality product that was made in Mexico, not China. I loved the way in was no hassle packaged and well protected for shipping. I received it in two days. All I had to do is cut the two band straps and the whole heavy-duty cardboard box lifts straight up and off leaving the TV standing straight up in a cardboard Styrofoam base. The instructions to mount the base are a little to be desired, I had to YouTube it. I also have a Samsung 36″ LED I use every day for the past 6 years on top of my refrigerator in my kitchen. Absolutely recommend this TV.

3 tvs all 3 showed up destroyed. I don’t advise having this shipped.

I like the TV. The picture quality is excellent. The sound quality is good. The set-up procedure was a pain in the neck as it is with all smart TV’s.

The only thing I am not all that happy with is the remote. I don’t rule out it is me since at the age of 82 it could be my age, but I find the remote challenging and not intuitive. I am also not a fan of the small size of the remote.

TV back is punctured with boot marks on the box. Someone clearly stood on this. TV screen works without damage but yeah…. 1 star, just buy from best buy and have them deliver instead. At least they will ask for permission before stepping on your stuff.

This is a train wreck. There is no device listed to link to one’s cable box – only connections to all of the various pay channels. And there is NO customer support whatsoever from Samsung OR Amazon.

So I have invested $1000 on a tv I cannot watch.
