Annoying On Screen Display Obscures View

Whenever they are turned on or awake from “sleep mode” a large pop-up window appears, blocking a significant portion of the display including the task bar for over ten seconds. So, for that time, your computer is largely unusable. The crude pop-up urges you to register the monitor. There are buttons in the pop-up to either close the window or link to an online registration site; however, the buttons are non-functional and cannot be clicked. I updated the firmware, hoping there was a fix, but there was no change. I tried registering at Samsung’s web site, but that also has no effect. A Google search reveals that many folks have experienced this issue over at least a year, and have contacted Samsung to no avail. I tried contacting them by phone myself, but have been unable despite lengthy waits. Someone online said their pop-ups finally disappeared after two weeks, so I waited. It’s been nearly a month now and the pop-ups are still there to annoy me. Clearly, Samsung doesn’t care after they have your money, so I’m returning these monitors in favor of another brand, and I’ll look elsewhere for televisions, phones, and other electronics. You win Samsung – you sure showed me who’s boss.
