Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Exceptional Picture Quality: Users consistently praise the sharp 4K resolution, vibrant yet natural colors, and the ability of the X1 processor to upscale older, lower-resolution content with impressive clarity.
  • Strong Value for Money: Many reviewers highlight that this model provides the premium build quality and performance expected from the brand at a much more affordable price than high-end OLED models.
  • Intuitive Google TV Interface: The smart TV platform is frequently described as snappy and easy to navigate, offering seamless integration with popular streaming apps and effective voice control via Google Assistant.

Cons

  • Frequent Software Freezing: A recurring issue among users is the TV's tendency to freeze or become unresponsive, often requiring the unit to be physically unplugged and restarted to restore functionality.
  • Poor Remote Control Design: The included remote is widely criticized for being too small, lacking a numeric keypad for direct channel entry, and having no backlighting for visibility in dark rooms.
  • Unreliable Wi-Fi Connectivity: Multiple customers reported that the TV frequently drops its wireless connection or fails to find networks entirely, necessitating frequent network resets or hard reboots.

Customer Fit

  • Primary audience: People using this model as the main living room TV praise the large screen sizes (65–85"), theater-like feel, strong color, and clear dialogue for sports, movies, and everyday shows from across the room.
  • Secondary audience: Many buyers explicitly installed the 50–65" sizes in bedrooms and liked that it’s easy to mount, sounds good without a soundbar, and is quick to get streaming.
  • Ideal scenarios: Reviewers say PS5 gameplay “looks great” and input lag feels low for casual gaming, but competitive players wanting 120Hz/VRR or simultaneous 4K+HDR may be disappointed.

I wish I didn’t have Google. I didn’t even catch that when I ordered it. It’s horrible. I’m thinking about getting a Roku TV without Google and then dealing with this other TV later. I don’t think they’ll take it back. I wish they would the worst TV I’ve ever had. I will never have another one with Google on it.

  3. Never click on the upgrade

I bought this TV. The screen is lovely. Newer remote takes some adjusting to and is harder to operate and small.

If you buy one, NEVER click on the update because you cannot undo it. Sony is unresponsive to the issue. If you want help, you have to pay $75… on a brand new TV. This update will change all your channels to numbers with decimal points. For example, channel 423 now becomes 29.8. All channels have a decimal point. It is extremely unfriendly. No TV guide uses those numbers. Several of the channels disappeared with the update and are now missing. Even the local channels.
If you want to channel scroll, it goes from 17.1 to over 900 because of music stations and it takes forever. No light on the remote.
Plus when you click on a 2 to enter a channel, for example, it duplicates and the screen shows 222, then you have to wait for it it clear itself to start over and it has a long clearance time. The speaker goes out the back of the TV, not the front, and it is not a very good sound.
I would not recommend this TV for those reasons. I’m now searching for a new TV. Very sad about that financial loss.

  4. Decent picture, but two frustrating issues

The picture quality is good overall, but I’ve had two consistent problems.

First, the audio will randomly cut out when using an Nvidia Shield Pro. Restarting the Shield doesn’t fix it. Restarting the TV does, every time. It’s repeatable and annoying.

Second, if you don’t use Google products, this TV is a pain. I use external devices specifically to avoid the built-in TV OS and limit data collection. Unfortunately, the TV updates itself frequently, and those updates tend to re-enable apps and settings I’ve already disabled. I end up going back through menus to turn off a long list of apps that exist mainly for ads or tracking viewing habits.

I bought four of these at once and didn’t install them for over a month, so returning them wasn’t an option. If you’re deep into the Google ecosystem, this may not bother you. If you value privacy be prepared for the challenge.

Excellent TV. Great for the bedroom. The picture quality is excellent, of course, and the brightness is fantastic. The sound quality from the speakers is surprisingly good. My only gripe is the operating system gets funky sometimes, freezes or doesn’t deliver sound, but nothing some simple troubleshooting can’t fix. Overall, a great buy.

I purchased this Sony Bravia 3 tv for the bedroom, which is the first time I’ve had a tv in the bedroom.
The 55” was a perfect size and hanging it on the wall looked like a picture.
Speaking of the picture … the colors are clear and vivid. Absolutely beautiful.
The remote is easy to use and a plus is that it has a digital optical outlet.!
    I highly recommend this product.
