Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Exceptional Picture Quality: Users consistently praise the sharp 4K resolution, vibrant yet natural colors, and the ability of the X1 processor to upscale older, lower-resolution content with impressive clarity.
  • Strong Value for Money: Many reviewers highlight that this model provides the premium build quality and performance expected from the brand at a much more affordable price than high-end OLED models.
  • Intuitive Google TV Interface: The smart TV platform is frequently described as snappy and easy to navigate, offering seamless integration with popular streaming apps and effective voice control via Google Assistant.

Cons

  • Frequent Software Freezing: A recurring issue among users is the TV's tendency to freeze or become unresponsive, often requiring the unit to be physically unplugged and restarted to restore functionality.
  • Poor Remote Control Design: The included remote is widely criticized for being too small, lacking a numeric keypad for direct channel entry, and having no backlighting for visibility in dark rooms.
  • Unreliable Wi-Fi Connectivity: Multiple customers reported that the TV frequently drops its wireless connection or fails to find networks entirely, necessitating frequent network resets or hard reboots.

Customer Fit

  • Primary audience: People using this model as the main living room TV praise the large screen sizes (65–85"), theater-like feel, strong color, and clear dialogue for sports, movies, and everyday shows from across the room.
  • Secondary audience: Many buyers explicitly installed the 50–65" sizes in bedrooms and liked that it’s easy to mount, sounds good without a soundbar, and is quick to get streaming.
  • Ideal scenarios: Reviewers say PS5 gameplay “looks great” and input lag feels low for casual gaming, but competitive players wanting 120Hz/VRR or simultaneous 4K+HDR may be disappointed.

The Sony 85″ Class BRAVIA 3 LED 4K UHD Smart Google TV is an entry-level model in Sony’s 2024 lineup, offering a large screen size suitable for various viewing environments. It features a 60Hz refresh rate and lacks advanced gaming features such as HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and local dimming. However, it does support black frame insertion, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and Dolby Vision.

    Picture Quality:

The BRAVIA 3 delivers decent picture quality for mixed usage. Its wide viewing angle makes it suitable for group settings, as the image doesn’t degrade much when viewed from the sides. However, it has poor contrast, resulting in blacks appearing gray when highlights are on screen, which may not be ideal for dark room viewing. Additionally, it lacks the HDR brightness needed for impactful highlights.

    Performance:

For TV shows and sports, the BRAVIA 3 performs well, offering very good image processing for low-resolution and low-quality content. Its wide viewing angle and decent reflection handling make it suitable for rooms with some ambient light. However, its reflection handling is only adequate with lights placed directly opposite the screen.
    RTINGS.com

    Gaming:

The BRAVIA 3 is not ideal for gaming due to its lack of modern gaming features like HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, 4K at 120Hz, and VRR. It offers 4K at 60Hz with noticeable screen tearing and has a decent response time, resulting in some blur behind fast motion. While it has low input lag, it doesn’t provide the optimal experience for modern gaming consoles or PCs.

Excellent price for this tv. I got this during thanksgiving time. Worth the money. Sound is not great but we use harmon kardon speaker system which is easy to connect. It fits well in my large family room, which is 18×20.

  5. Bravia 3 75" – Better than my Sony OLED!

This TV is fantastic. It uses a modern IPS-style panel. While on paper this kind of panel is severely lacking in contrast ratio, in person it looks fantastic. Contrast and colors *look* incredible. The picture is very clear and even appears easier on the eyes than my previous Sony A80J OLED TV. Severely underrated TV, incredible picture quality for the price!

Ever since I bought my first Sony Bravia tv 10 years ago, these tv’s have become one of my all time favorite electronics purchases. This 65″ Sony Bravia is my third tv in this series and it is amazing. The picture is so crisp and beautiful. The UI is very simple and intuitive- using the Android operating system makes this familiar easy to maneuver. The controller for this tv is smaller and quite frankly far easier to use than my last two Sony Bravia tv’s and is a great improvement. As long as Sony keeps making these tv’s, I will keep coming back for more.

Great TV but wouldn’t recommend Best Buy. Have been waiting 3 months to get my refund for a returned TV. Customer service makes no effort to resolve this issue, get transferred to various departments being told I need to speak with someone else. After being on the phone for an hour I’m told there’s nothing they can do. Absolutely terrible.
