Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Exceptional Picture Quality: Users consistently praise the sharp 4K resolution, vibrant yet natural colors, and the ability of the X1 processor to upscale older, lower-resolution content with impressive clarity.
  • Strong Value for Money: Many reviewers highlight that this model provides the premium build quality and performance expected from the brand at a much more affordable price than high-end OLED models.
  • Intuitive Google TV Interface: The smart TV platform is frequently described as snappy and easy to navigate, offering seamless integration with popular streaming apps and effective voice control via Google Assistant.

Cons

  • Frequent Software Freezing: A recurring issue among users is the TV's tendency to freeze or become unresponsive, often requiring the unit to be physically unplugged and restarted to restore functionality.
  • Poor Remote Control Design: The included remote is widely criticized for being too small, lacking a numeric keypad for direct channel entry, and having no backlighting for visibility in dark rooms.
  • Unreliable Wi-Fi Connectivity: Multiple customers reported that the TV frequently drops its wireless connection or fails to find networks entirely, necessitating frequent network resets or hard reboots.

Customer Fit

  • Primary audience: People using this model as the main living room TV praise the large screen sizes (65–85"), theater-like feel, strong color, and clear dialogue for sports, movies, and everyday shows from across the room.
  • Secondary audience: Many buyers explicitly installed the 50–65" sizes in bedrooms and liked that it’s easy to mount, sounds good without a soundbar, and is quick to get streaming.
  • Ideal scenarios: Reviewers say PS5 gameplay “looks great” and input lag feels low for casual gaming, but competitive players wanting 120Hz/VRR or simultaneous 4K+HDR may be disappointed.

*EDIT: I’m using a windows pc and the recommended resolution is what it defaulted to (3840×2160). Running at THAT resolution is what caused the terrible input lag, but setting it to 4096×2160 fixes it and gets rid of the input lag.

4096×2160 is slightly narrower than 16:9 and does lead to thin black bars at the top and bottom of the screen, but that doesn’t bother me too much; I’m just glad I’ve fixed the input lag. I guess this tv just takes issue with 3840×2160. I don’t own a ps5 or xbox so I can’t test it with a regular game console, unfortunately. I don’t know if modern game consoles let you set their resolution, but if they can’t, this might be an issue.

    original review:

I wouldn’t buy this for gaming. The input lag has got to be around half a second (500 milliseconds). It feels horrible after using a computer monitor. That is, of course, after putting in it gaming mode. Without that, the input lag is seriously over a second. It’s comically bad.

The picture quality is good; probably a great option for watching movies and other normal TV stuff, but awful for gaming.

  9. Disappointed. Had to return it.

I bought this TV as a surprise gift for my parents in their 70’s. They loved the gift. But, hated the product. They have always liked Sony and so that is why I chose this TV. i thought they could plug the cords from their old Sony into the new Sony and it would seamlessly connect. Unfortunately, the Google TV app got in the way of that. Seemingly every time they wanted to open Netflix or Tubi or any app…the Google TV app would take over the screen and force them into using multiple remote controls to restart the TV and try to work around the program. Sometimes in the middle of watching football on cable, the screen would go black and the Google TV app would pop on there. It was problematic. And to top things off, I paid extra for them to deliver and install the TV to my parents and the delivery driver took the box with them. That has made the return process difficult and delayed. Just frustrating. Getting them a gift has turned into a bit of a fiasco.

Bought open box. It was missing the OEM remote so I don’t get to use the voice commands. The picture is great though.
