Pros & Cons
Pros
- Exceptional Picture Quality: Users consistently praise the sharp 4K resolution, vibrant yet natural colors, and the ability of the X1 processor to upscale older, lower-resolution content with impressive clarity.
- Strong Value for Money: Many reviewers highlight that this model provides the premium build quality and performance expected from the brand at a much more affordable price than high-end OLED models.
- Intuitive Google TV Interface: The smart TV platform is frequently described as snappy and easy to navigate, offering seamless integration with popular streaming apps and effective voice control via Google Assistant.
Cons
- Frequent Software Freezing: A recurring issue among users is the TV's tendency to freeze or become unresponsive, often requiring the unit to be physically unplugged and restarted to restore functionality.
- Poor Remote Control Design: The included remote is widely criticized for being too small, lacking a numeric keypad for direct channel entry, and having no backlighting for visibility in dark rooms.
- Unreliable Wi-Fi Connectivity: Multiple customers reported that the TV frequently drops its wireless connection or fails to find networks entirely, necessitating frequent network resets or hard reboots.
Customer Fit
- Primary audience: People using this model as the main living room TV praise the large screen sizes (65–85"), theater-like feel, strong color, and clear dialogue for sports, movies, and everyday shows from across the room.
- Secondary audience: Many buyers explicitly installed the 50–65" sizes in bedrooms and liked that it’s easy to mount, sounds good without a soundbar, and is quick to get streaming.
- Ideal scenarios: Reviewers say PS5 gameplay “looks great” and input lag feels low for casual gaming, but competitive players wanting 120Hz/VRR or simultaneous 4K+HDR may be disappointed.

The person who helped us at the store really added to the research we had done online. We went with mini LED as it seemed the best for us.
The set up was super easy and it definitely takes two people to be most safe.
One thing not clear while ordering is that one cannot transport tv’s this large lying flat in a vehicle. So you either need to take a vehicle to the store that is large enough to hold it vertically or you can have it delivered, which is what we did. -

This is a step down as it relates to clarity and less adjustment but a solid TV. It will probably last years longer than cheaper brands and models which is the draw to Sony for me.

Purchased this after my 75” Samsung died after a little over 2 years. I’ve only used Samsung TVs, but after my last one dying so quickly made me want to try something different.

A solid 4K 42 inch sony TV for reasonable price
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product. Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.CovidKing September 20, 2024Review source: BestbuyI have always bought Sony TVs and i feel they are worth the extra money. this is the first TV larger than 32 in i have bought. its 42 inches. it is a 4K , Bravia 3 TV. unfortunately the cable is only 1080. as a result the picture is not as perfectly clear as it was on my 32 in SONY TV. Streaming is 4K and is not better on the 42 in than it was on 32 in TV. oddly the closer to the 42 in TV you are, the clearer it is. the film on the surface of the new TV gives a very slightly soft quality to the picture. Set up was a pain. Its a google (android) TV for streaming. i am on apple smart phone. My previous streaming service was amazon firestick. i decided to stay with fire stick for streaming which is no problem. there are multiple HDMI ports on the TV. Getting cable to work on the new TV was a challenge but that was due to the awful Spectrum service, not the sony TV, Overall i am happy with the TV. it is not the top of the line sony which costs at least $2000. this TV was only $500 which i thought was a decent price. there are cheaper 42 in TVs on the market, but not a sony.
