Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Exceptional Picture Quality: Users consistently praise the sharp 4K resolution, vibrant yet natural colors, and the ability of the X1 processor to upscale older, lower-resolution content with impressive clarity.
  • Strong Value for Money: Many reviewers highlight that this model provides the premium build quality and performance expected from the brand at a much more affordable price than high-end OLED models.
  • Intuitive Google TV Interface: The smart TV platform is frequently described as snappy and easy to navigate, offering seamless integration with popular streaming apps and effective voice control via Google Assistant.

Cons

  • Frequent Software Freezing: A recurring issue among users is the TV's tendency to freeze or become unresponsive, often requiring the unit to be physically unplugged and restarted to restore functionality.
  • Poor Remote Control Design: The included remote is widely criticized for being too small, lacking a numeric keypad for direct channel entry, and having no backlighting for visibility in dark rooms.
  • Unreliable Wi-Fi Connectivity: Multiple customers reported that the TV frequently drops its wireless connection or fails to find networks entirely, necessitating frequent network resets or hard reboots.

Customer Fit

  • Primary audience: People using this model as the main living room TV praise the large screen sizes (65–85"), theater-like feel, strong color, and clear dialogue for sports, movies, and everyday shows from across the room.
  • Secondary audience: Many buyers explicitly installed the 50–65" sizes in bedrooms and liked that it’s easy to mount, sounds good without a soundbar, and is quick to get streaming.
  • Ideal scenarios: Reviewers say PS5 gameplay “looks great” and input lag feels low for casual gaming, but competitive players wanting 120Hz/VRR or simultaneous 4K+HDR may be disappointed.

  1. Glitchy/Slow Response

I purchased this a while ago, but right away I noticed how glitchy and lagging it was. The response time from the remote is very slow and yes I did replace the batteries. From the time I press a button on the remote to the time it takes the TV to respond is about 7 seconds. I thought maybe I just got a lemon, so I told Amazon and they sent a replacement, but the replacement is doing the exact same thing. Usually Sony is very high quality which is why I only buy that brand, but this particular model of TV is not good imo.

The SONY K43S30 TV is adjustable to achieve fine sharpness and excellent color, contrast and brightness quality and balances. It has acceptable tone quality and volume control. It functions well with connected HDMI and optical devices. Airplay is convenient, but not equal in quality to HDMI and optical connectivity. Internet connection is good for viewing small details at a distance to reduce eye strain. Printed operation manuals and guides for this TV are welcome and appreciated.

My Panasonic Plasma Television recently failed and I need a replacement. The screen quality and energy savings is better then the Plasma, given it is newer technology. The weight of this LED Television, one man can carry it, for safety use two people to lift bulky items.

I’ve had my tv for less than 24 hours. I was extremely pleased with my purchase until today when i realized the remote is no longer working. Only the power on/off button works. I took the batteries out that were provided and put in different ones, it gave me maybe 5 seconds more of functionality, then stopped. An option came up to restart the tv….but couldn’t choose that cause the remote doesn’t work. Really hoping I can get this resolved and it won’t be an ongoing problem.

Set up took awhile as the eARC for an AV receiver must be in input 3. Not sure but this then triggered a large firmware update on my Yahama receiver as I was not getting any sound. The TV also had a large update once first powered up. All was good for several hours then the picture quality went to an impressionist painting style. Tried many things but it was the TV.
A call to geek squad solved this with instructions for a hard reboot aka pull the plug, wait, and plug back in. Problem solved.

Picture and sound setup much easier with less options than the Samsung it replaced.

On screen navigation once learned is OK but could use some intuitive help.

If you have an AV reciver, check your eARC and 4K upscale settings for best experience. There is a long delay for the TV to turn on the AV receiver, then my Yahama receiver also has a time delay before pumping sound. Get use to it and it is no big deal.

I have both Samsungs and Sonys. Just pick the best bang for your buck. At the required 50-inch size needed to fit my wall unit, Best Buy had one of each in my price range. The ones at the club stores are stripped down cheaper versions which might be OK for guest bedrooms, not for main living rooms.

Sound is thru my AV receiver but I guess the speakers are OK. There is a speaker setting for if table or wall mounted.

  8. SONY BRAVIA 3 TV (75in)

Let’s go over the many pro’s and few con’s to this television. Starting with size, the 75in Sony Bravia 3 (2024) meets the above average standard for most households. If you’re extra wealthy and can splurge on the higher end models of the BRAVIA, go ahead and access the OLED experience. For the Bravia 3, you’re looking at one of the best tv’s for its price of $999 at Best Buy. I do notice a quality soundscape even without the sound bar, so don’t feel obliged to go full soundbar unless you can. The home interface is probably the only con to this TV as it sometimes gets stuck and won’t allow you to move about without turning the TV off and back on. This was a bit worrisome, but my belief is that the Sony batteries it comes with aren’t the best and you should find new batteries so the controller doesn’t have any lag or error. Otherwise from this, the moving about the home interface is smooth, quick, and aesthetic. I believe the image quality offers a positive differential if you’re comparing to other brands, and a slight downgrade from its Sony Bravia counterparts in the 7 & 9. I will state that a 75in is HUGE for my living room but I love it. We could’ve gone smaller with the 65in, but ultimately, I’m happy with our choice. Consider the tv stand and or mount situation prior to purchasing and be ready for an easy set up if you’re prepared. All in all, I rate this TV an 8/10 and pray it lasts us multiple years of great entertainment.
