Pros & Cons
Pros
- Exceptional Picture Quality: Users consistently praise the sharp 4K resolution, vibrant yet natural colors, and the ability of the X1 processor to upscale older, lower-resolution content with impressive clarity.
- Strong Value for Money: Many reviewers highlight that this model provides the premium build quality and performance expected from the brand at a much more affordable price than high-end OLED models.
- Intuitive Google TV Interface: The smart TV platform is frequently described as snappy and easy to navigate, offering seamless integration with popular streaming apps and effective voice control via Google Assistant.
Cons
- Frequent Software Freezing: A recurring issue among users is the TV's tendency to freeze or become unresponsive, often requiring the unit to be physically unplugged and restarted to restore functionality.
- Poor Remote Control Design: The included remote is widely criticized for being too small, lacking a numeric keypad for direct channel entry, and having no backlighting for visibility in dark rooms.
- Unreliable Wi-Fi Connectivity: Multiple customers reported that the TV frequently drops its wireless connection or fails to find networks entirely, necessitating frequent network resets or hard reboots.
Customer Fit
- Primary audience: People using this model as the main living room TV praise the large screen sizes (65–85"), theater-like feel, strong color, and clear dialogue for sports, movies, and everyday shows from across the room.
- Secondary audience: Many buyers explicitly installed the 50–65" sizes in bedrooms and liked that it’s easy to mount, sounds good without a soundbar, and is quick to get streaming.
- Ideal scenarios: Reviewers say PS5 gameplay “looks great” and input lag feels low for casual gaming, but competitive players wanting 120Hz/VRR or simultaneous 4K+HDR may be disappointed.

Worst tv we have EVER OWNED in 53 Years on earth!!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Justin January 16, 2026Review source: BestbuyThis tv is a horrendous, coronary inducing piece of JUNK! We paid $1000 18 months ago and it has been nothing but an infuriating piece of garbage that freezes up constantly!! We have ALL of the updates. We kept track of the terrible performance:
1. Freezes up at least 5 times every single day
2. When it freezes up, you have no option but to hard shutdown by unplugging the stupid piece of crap. Yup you read that right. Remote has ZERO RESPONSIVENESS so you are stuck. So get up, walk over, dig around behind the tv console to find the plug, unplug, plug back in, go back to couch, wait…..wait….wait some more…..wait…did I mention wait? Wait some more because GOOGLE TV SUCKS AND IS EXTREMELY SLOW AND CLUNKY.
3. IF you are lucky and the tv restarted correctly (about 50% of the time) try again to watch tv.
4. It will probably not be fixed so repeat steps 1-3! Isn’t this fun??
5. If the tv doesn’t freeze up altogether it will go black with sound, or have no sound but have a picture.
6. Repeat steps 1-3!, yippeee!!
7. After about 2 months the search function from the main screen simply stopped working and hasn’t worked since. It just spins for eternity. So you can’t even find a movie without going to every streaming channel and searching there. Not a single day has gone by since we bought this where this didn’t happen. As time goes on it just gets worse and worse. Almost seems to me like planned obsolescence.
The interface is so slow and clunky and unresponsive it will literally drive you mad. I have come so close to throwing the remote right through the screen and just tossing the tv outside. Or putting my foot through it!
Folks, I have owned a lot of TVs in my life. None of them…NONE, have ever given me this much infuriating grief. This tv was new in July 2024. So the bottom line here is, and something you very badly need to heed, is that SONY SUCKS NOW. I should have listened to my coworker who stopped buying Sony’s altogether a couple years ago. My last tv before this was also a Sony, it wasn’t as bad but it was bad. Their performance is so sluggish you will click something on the interface and wait like 10 seconds for it to register!
Save yourself a lot of wasted money and time and severe aggravation and buy a different brand. If you buy it, you were warned so don’t complain.
Our internet is high speed cable and consistently tests at 275-300 mbps. No other tv in the house does this. We have 4. And the others were cheaper but are far better.
In this day and age there is no excuse for such an expensive piece of junk for such an old technology. SONY doesn’t even know how to make a working tv anymore LOL
NEVER AGAIN.Read More

Pretty good with a major flaw
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Irish January 15, 2026Review source: AmazonIt’s pretty good picture for the price, but the hardware is really bad resulting in very slow maneuvering around the software. I’d highly recommend using something like a 4k FireTV stick for this instead of the smart TV features built in. It really is that bad.

Not worth it for the price and model
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Steven L January 13, 2026Review source: AmazonBought in January 2026 an got a 2024 model. Description had all these cool ai features and does nothing like the video shows. Called Sony’s customer service to figure out why this TV didn’t connect to my smart home. All of the ai stuff is through Google not sony so they have no clue what there doing. Be prepared to do your own homework if you are integrating this in to smart house. Plus I wanted to buy this tv on Christmas day when I got my gift card. On Christmas day they jack the price to $600 when it was on sale. So I waited to see if it was going on sale on new years day and they jack to price to $700. This tv and Amazon is a complete ripe off.
