Superior Safety & Design Engineered with multiple fail-safe measures for safe pressure cooking, including a large steam vent cap to prevent overflows and sensors to ensure the unit is set up correctly.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Superior Rice Quality: The pressure induction heating technology produces perfectly fluffy, sweet, and consistent rice that users claim surpasses restaurant quality and standard fuzzy logic models.
  • Exceptional Keep Warm Function: The machine is highly praised for its ability to keep rice fresh, moist, and delicious for several days without it drying out, yellowing, or developing odors.
  • Versatile Grain Settings: Beyond standard white rice, it delivers excellent results for GABA brown rice, steel-cut oatmeal, and congee, with dedicated settings that handle difficult grains with ease.

Cons

  • Prohibitive Price: The extremely high cost is the most common complaint, with many users finding it difficult to justify the expense despite the high-quality results.
  • Reliability and Part Failures: Several reviewers reported hardware malfunctions shortly after the one-year warranty expired, specifically citing cracked inner lids, steam leaks, and persistent E17 error codes.
  • High Maintenance Cleaning: The unit requires significant effort to maintain, as multiple parts must be disassembled, hand-washed, and dried after every use to prevent starch buildup and odors.

  1. Perfect rice, every time

As you’d expect spending this much on a rice cooker, this thing makes perfect rice, in what feels like a foolproof way, every time.

Short grain. Medium grain. Long grain. Short grain for rice bowls vs for homemade Sushi. Doesn’t matter. It all comes out exactly like it “should”. And with the customizable controls on top, if you have a personal preference outside the norm, it can do that too. We’ve done a really great Koshihikari rice using the Normal, Soft and Hard settings, and each has subtle differences while still seeming perfect.

The extended warm feature is crazy. We had a busy week coming up, so I braised a Chuck roast, and made 6 cups of rice on Sunday. When the roast was done, I shredded it and put it in the fridge, and would take some out at different meal times during the week, and would sauté it in some Japanese BBQ sauce. The rice? We put the cooker on extended warm, and it kept the rice at exactly serving temperature for 4 days, without drying it out or the edges getting crispy. Lunch or supper in 10~ minutes all week from that.

The kids love the little jingle it makes when it’s done (you can change it if you hate it) and would fight with each other over who got to open it for our first few cooks.

Using the rice cooker itself is dead simple. Measure and Rinse your rise. Put it in the included bowl. Add water to the line. Close the lid. Click your cooking setting and start. The included clock + timer is super helpful as well. I did my rice prep the night before, set the timer to have the rice ready for me ~24 hours later when I got home from work, and that’s it. Walked in the door to the jingle of rice being done. No real assembly required- just take a couple stickers off the lid.

Negatives? It’s expensive and essentially a unitasker. But the task that it does it 100% nails every time. I definitely prefer the rice out of this to what you get from, say, an Instapot. Not that Instapot is bad- this is just better.

The only thing it has ever done less than perfect on the first shot was one of those Yellow Rice (saffron rice) packets; the normal setting was just a little too soft. But next time we made it, we set it to ‘Hard’ instead, and we’re more than happy.

If you have the money but are on the fence, I can’t recommend this high enough. We love ours, and I really think you will to.

The rice is soft and delicious. Easy to cook beans. It’s just a pity that there is no place to store the code.

Purchased this rice cooker a year and a half ago. It cooks rice surprisingly well and the rice seems to come out softer when compared to our older rice cooker and also last longer on the stay warm mode. But after a year and a half the non stick on the underside of the rice pot started chipping away and I’m assuming it will start chipping on the inside as well. For such an expensive rice cooker this should not be happening a year and a half in. We reached out to zojirushi and it seems they only warranty the rice pot for 1 YEAR!!! Seems like they must know the coatings fail after a year if they only warranty it for a year. Oh and a new one is $103 before taxes and shipping fees. So be ready to fork out 100 bucks a year on a new rice pot after purchasing this almost $600 dollar rice cooker. Also while I purchased it a year and a half ago 6 months of that the rice cooker was in storage, so I only got a years usage of cooking rice maybe 2-3 days max a week.

  5. Simply the best

Look, it’s really expensive. It also makes the best rice you’ll ever cook with virtually no effort, every time.

I replaced a worn-out older induction-cooking model, which made excellent rice. This one makes even better rice, as hard as that may be to believe. Cleanup is slightly more complicated due to the additional pressure-valve parts; however, removal of the parts for cleaning is easier.

If you frequently eat rice, this is a worthy investment.

Amazon.com shipped this item to me without a shipping box (instead, they used the merchant’s original box). Considering this was an electronic fragile item, it wasn’t acceptable to receive such an expensive item without proper packaging.

  7. Loud noises cause headaches

I used to own a Zojirushi rice cooker and never had a problem. The rice cooker, Cuckoo, I bought was very good but it started to peel the inner pot. Decided to buy this 10 cup Zojirushi rice cooker based on reviews and my good experience of the old Zojirushi. It turned out to be a terrible choice because when rice is being cooked the noises are so loud and sickening, which gives me headaches. Since we eat rice almost everyday, I have gone through many brands, Zojirushi, Cuckoo, tiger, etc., but have never experienced loud noises like this. Big disappointment! I just ordered a Cuckoo rice cooker induction heating rice cooker. Perhaps I got a lemon but this rice cooker will be stored for an emergency only.

  8. Long Cook Times

    DP June 23, 2023
    Review source: Amazon

Only used this rice cooker to cook rice (brown and white). For a pressure cooker the cook times are long: 55 mins for regular white rice, 83 mins for brown. There is a quick option which cooks white rice in 35 mins. It’s a low pressure cooker which explains the slow cook times and why it is very quiet (hardly any steam sound when cooking) compared to other rice cookers I’ve used (Cuckoo/Cuchen). If you like to eat brown rice and prefer it sticky I definitely would not recommend this. High pressure gives brown rice a sticky texture and is tasty but the brown rice from this cooker tastes flat and unappealing. It’s not much better than boiling brown rice in a pot and it takes longer.

  9. Best rice I've ever tasted

If you love rice, get this. So just for reference, my wife and I eat rice pretty much every other day of the week. Because of this, I didn’t want to skimp out on a rice cooker. Zojirushi is a reputable brand, and so at first we went with the Zojirushi NP-HCC10XH Induction Heating System Rice Cooker. However, for $200ish more, you can get this one, which has pressure in addition to induction heating. I know some people might think spending $500 on a rice cooker is silly, but I have no regrets whatsoever. The rice is just perfect. Better than most restaurants even. After reading many reviews, I heard theres not a substantial difference between this rice cooker and the purely just induction model. However, theres a HUGE difference. It might just be because I’m a rice lover, but I can immediately tell that the rice is fluffier and the taste is definitely noticeable. Now, the induction model makes good rice. But this pressure + induction model makes GREAT rice. I would 100% recommend to any household that regularly makes rice. You do have to clean an extra part after each cook (the pressure gasket) which can be annoying, but it comes off fairly easily and it just becomes an extra part to clean. Also note – I only cook rice in this. Many reviews are somewhat mixed about making oats and other things in it. I know it has that functionality but I just use it for rice.

  10. Only lasted 2 years

I have own several Zojirushi rice cookers over the years and this model lasted the least. The GFI switch just jumped every time when the pressure kicked in. I called customer support and since it’s out of one year warranty so I need to send in to the service center for them to check out. I have never experienced a Zojirushi product that have such a short lifespan with a high price tag.
