Pros & Cons
Pros
- Superior Rice Quality: The pressure induction heating technology produces perfectly fluffy, sweet, and consistent rice that users claim surpasses restaurant quality and standard fuzzy logic models.
- Exceptional Keep Warm Function: The machine is highly praised for its ability to keep rice fresh, moist, and delicious for several days without it drying out, yellowing, or developing odors.
- Versatile Grain Settings: Beyond standard white rice, it delivers excellent results for GABA brown rice, steel-cut oatmeal, and congee, with dedicated settings that handle difficult grains with ease.
Cons
- Prohibitive Price: The extremely high cost is the most common complaint, with many users finding it difficult to justify the expense despite the high-quality results.
- Reliability and Part Failures: Several reviewers reported hardware malfunctions shortly after the one-year warranty expired, specifically citing cracked inner lids, steam leaks, and persistent E17 error codes.
- High Maintenance Cleaning: The unit requires significant effort to maintain, as multiple parts must be disassembled, hand-washed, and dried after every use to prevent starch buildup and odors.

Excellent but not worth the price
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.KHan January 21, 2023Review source: AmazonI lived in Asia for almost 2 decades and really appreciate good Japanese/Asian rice and have wished for this particular rice cooker for many years until I took the courage to get one. After using it for a few days, I felt bad… I really could not justify the price for the difference in quality, even though I used it mostly to cook GABA brown rice, which as far as I know other rice cookers can not do. Don’t get me wrong, this rice cooker is excellent, there is nothing WRONG with it but the rice I was eating in comparison with what other high quality Asian rice cookers can make is not THAT much better to justify such expense. I can perhaps taste the difference but no one else in my household could, so it really felt like an unnecessary luxury.
I am addicted to kitchen appliances and never before regretted buying something good and expensive that created wonderful food options, lasted many years and gave everyone better health and joy, but this time I could not justify even after buying this at a great discount, it was still a 500 dollar+ rice cooker.
The other issue is that although I like cooking for guests (and at some point I had five children who love rice but are now all grown and gone), we are usually only two people and I would rather have the smaller version of this rice cooker but for whatever reason it is even MORE expensive. This larger pot takes far too much counter space and it is too large unless you have a really big family and everyone eats a lot of rice. The smaller model would be perfect for 4 to 5 people already. If I could buy the smaller pot for a lesser price I would definitely buy again but at this price range I can not recommend it.
A special feature is the platinum infused cooking surface. The negative is that you can not find a replacement part or an alternative without the non stick. So if you for some reason chip the cooking bowl, your investment is gone. -
Concern About the Inner-lid of this Model
Maria January 20, 2023Review source: AmazonI got the induction/pressure rice cooker in 2020. After about a year, I noticed the steam just came out from the sides and made very loud noises (some one also had the same issue in their review). I called the customer service and she said it could be because the inner lid got cracked. I checked and found a crack. She could not send me a replacement because it was a couple months past the one-year warranty. So I ordered a new inner lid to replace the cracked one. Then, after another year, the inner lid got cracked again. I was kinda concerned about quality of the inner lid because it got cracked exactly after about a year again. So I called the customer service again. The first thing he said was “If you’re looking for a free replacement, we’re sorry we can’t do replacement for parts”. (I think they should train their customer service personnel on how to communicate with their customers a little more.) I told him that I wasn’t calling to ask for a free replacement. I was calling because of my concern about the quality of the inner lid and wondering if they have received any customers’ feedback regarding the inner lid. I don’t know if I should continue to use this rice cooker and will have to pay for an inner lid every year (about $40). He said it depends on how often I use and how well I take care of the rice cooker 😀. I decided to try one more time and if after one year, the inner lid gets cracked again, I will just throw the rice cooker (although it’s an expensive model) and buy a different brand. (Oh, I can give them some credits for giving me about $12 discount).

A high price but you are getting what you pay for.
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.NR Pax December 3, 2022Review source: AmazonWe had been using an Aroma rice cooker and it died on us after only two years of use. My wife enjoys cooking and we have a Zojirushi bread machine that is very durable and has lasted us a long time. I decided after reading a few reviews that it would be worth a try.
And it is. Look; the price tag is a genuine concern. But you are getting a programmable rice cooker and the rice you get from it is consistently good. I appreciate that you can set it up to cook hours later and it will sing a happy tune to let you know that things are ready.

I was amazed at how much better it turned out than it did with my old black and decker cooker. Did a blind taste test for fun and everyone picked the rice from this cooker.

The Goat of rice cookers
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Jack c. October 27, 2022Review source: AmazonThis machine is incredible impressive. I bought it because Americas Test kitchen rated it the best of all the rice cookers they tested and my wallet is sad to hear this, but it is. I would say this is the top trim of their rice cookers and the white one without pressure is probably a better deal if you aren’t cooking rice every week. But if rice is a staple in your diet like me, I would splurge. Zo’s are also very reliable, my last rice cooker was one of their older models and it lasted me about 20 years. So I imagine this machine will as well.
