Pros & Cons
Pros
- Superior Rice Quality: The pressure induction heating technology produces perfectly fluffy, sweet, and consistent rice that users claim surpasses restaurant quality and standard fuzzy logic models.
- Exceptional Keep Warm Function: The machine is highly praised for its ability to keep rice fresh, moist, and delicious for several days without it drying out, yellowing, or developing odors.
- Versatile Grain Settings: Beyond standard white rice, it delivers excellent results for GABA brown rice, steel-cut oatmeal, and congee, with dedicated settings that handle difficult grains with ease.
Cons
- Prohibitive Price: The extremely high cost is the most common complaint, with many users finding it difficult to justify the expense despite the high-quality results.
- Reliability and Part Failures: Several reviewers reported hardware malfunctions shortly after the one-year warranty expired, specifically citing cracked inner lids, steam leaks, and persistent E17 error codes.
- High Maintenance Cleaning: The unit requires significant effort to maintain, as multiple parts must be disassembled, hand-washed, and dried after every use to prevent starch buildup and odors.

best tasting rice!!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.ppanda June 24, 2022Review source: AmazonI’ve been eating rice all my life. I didn’t know rice could taste like this. The flavor and texture is different than using a regular cheaper rice cooker.

Worth the investment.
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Elisabeth B. April 21, 2022Review source: AmazonGrowing up my mother had always had a Zojirushi rice cooker, and I had coveted them for many years before deciding finally to purchase my own. Prior to this, I used a cheap Aroma model which was adequate at best and unreliable / ruined rice at worst. When travel to Japan was shut down and my cheaper rice cooker became less and less reliable, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the 10-cup model (while our family is just three people, we do tend to host large gatherings for family and guests and I wanted the ability to heat/keep rice warm for a crowd and for long periods of time).
The price tag on this model is admittedly steep – it is currently the top-of-the-line Zojirushi model available in the US (the highest-end ones on the Japanese market can reach upwards of $1000). Even my husband who is something of a rice connoisseur was skeptical. We initially did two tests with rice we use regularly – Koda Farms Kohuko Rose (our ‘daily’ rice) and Nanatsuboshi rice from Hokkaido (a premium rice). Both came out absolutely perfect – and after many hours on warm were still delicious and not dried out. The difference between this cooker and my cheap one is significant – even our regular ‘daily’ rice tasted nearly as good as the premium stuff: sweeter, fluffier, and fragrant. It does take longer than my old rice cooker, but since the quality isn’t affected by remaining on warm, I tend to prep in advance.
We tried other settings – jasmine (for long grain or basmati rice), brown rice, and had the same excellent results each time. The functions and timer are all intuitive and easy to use – you can set ahead the night before and have perfect rice in the morning for tamago gohan or rice with natto. While I was hesitant to spend the money for this machine I am truly glad I did, it is absolutely worth it for our family’s needs.

Excellent rice/hot cereal cooker
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.J. Miles April 19, 2022Review source: AmazonThis is my second Zojirushi rice cooker. The other one still works great but I wanted to try this upscale pressurized version. If you like steel-cut oats this is the ticket to consistant results especially if you are on a tight schedule. Just set the local time and set the timer function to the time you want your oatmeal (or whatever) to be ready. Press timer then Start and your oatmeal will be perfectly cooked at the time you set. Just make sure you throughly wash (I usually rinse about three to four cycles) the rice or oats before cooking. Also remember to clean the inside of the cooker each time you use it.

Did not last 4 years.
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.nicholas truong April 12, 2022Review source: AmazonBought this unit on Aug 25, 2021. I died yesterday on Jun 29, 2025. For almost 4 years, it has functioned as it was designed to do. I expected it to last much longer as it was made in Japan. Very disappointed for such an expansive product to last a short time. Will try different brand next time.

Another awesome product from Zojirushi
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.CJ April 4, 2022Review source: AmazonI live and die by my Zojirushi rice cooker. When the inner pot of my 10 year old NP-HBC10 finally started to give up its coating, I went to get a replacement pot. Out of Stock. OH NO. Yeah, no living without my rice cooker. So I did what any rational person would do and blew $525 schmackos on the flagship pressure cooker model. Like, really…who wouldn’t?;)
Now, in truth, I had been eyeballing this one for a long time, but really couldn’t see my way to paying prime dollars for a new rice cooker when my existing one was working just fine. But, inner pot out of stock was all the excuse I needed. Even then, I hesitated over the price a bit. Then I did it anyway.
I AM NOT SORRY. At all. I’d buy it again.
This thing is great. I use it mainly for regular ole rice and steel cut oats. I cook A LOT of rice. The occasional foray into mixed rice. Multiple times a week. It’s hard for me to explain, but the results are better than ever. Texture, taste. Amazing. I made some saffron turmeric curried rice in it that was to die for. Sort of a riff on Sri Lankan yellow rice. It was awesome.
I almost knocked a star off because the price is steep. It does feel a little overpriced to me, despite Zojirushi quality and all. But if it lasts at least 10 years, like my previous one, which is still fine aside from temporary unavailability of a new inner pot, it will be worth the sticker shock, imho. Again, I use mine almost daily.
I knocked one star off for ease of cleaning because it is a little bit more fiddly on that score. Stuff gets up behind the removable plate in the lid, and it can be a little troublesome to get cooked on funk off the non-removable portion of the lid. Particularly oatmeal starch. Rice, not so much of a struggle. This is not a showstopper. It’s still pretty easy to clean, but I did not have that issue with my older, non-pressure cooker model. If that portion of the lid was a little easier to clean, I’d have given it 5 stars. It’s more of a half-star than a full star off, but alas, no option for that.
All in all, I am delighted with this cooker.
If you can justify/afford the $$$ for this unit, you’ll love it. The Amazon payment plan that is available for this is a nice perk if you can’t or don’t want to shell out the whole wad at once. Something to consider.
