The cooker is also easy to clean and the the provided manual answers clearly whatever usage questions you might have, such as setting up a timer that finishes cooking the rice by a time that you set so that you have fresh cooked rice when you want it like leaving it overnight to have the rice ready for lunch.

This induction + pressure cooker does a fantastic job of making rice painlessly, although to be fair, to do it right, it takes time so you do need to plan ahead. The other main reason I went with this model though is I live at rather high altitude and NO other rice cooker ever worked right here (same with bread makers) due to the difference in boiling temperature.
The first time I set up this Zojirushi with a cup of Basmati rice it turned out perfectly, a very pleasant surprise. I know some might be tempted to get the larger model because it’s nearly the same price point, but honestly, this 5.5 cup unit is plenty big enough for me and guests.
True, the instructions can be somewhat intimidating in terms of all the admonitions to clean the unit after every use and to be extra careful in HOW you clean it, but I haven’t had any problems. I rather like the way the top comes apart for easy washing.
So far, I’ve had this thing do Basmati, Jasmine, short and long grain brown, and Calrose sushi rice. Every batch turned out great.

Developed odd odors that infused into the rice. Company explained it away saying the silicon ring on the lid was permeable to odor absorption and gave a list of hypersensitive causes. Felt more like an excuse for faulty design. This was actually the second time purchased. The first had a plastic component in the lid literally disintegrate and, of course, impossible to get a replacement inner lid piece. Clearly, will be my last purchase from this company.

I can start the rice cooker, leave home and be gone the whole day, and the rice will be ready, waiting for me still warm (stays warm for 10 hours!) The start and end melodies are cute, but you have the option to turn them off and use a ‘beep’ noise. Worth every dollar.
