Pros & Cons
Pros
- Superior Rice Quality: The pressure induction heating technology produces perfectly fluffy, sweet, and consistent rice that users claim surpasses restaurant quality and standard fuzzy logic models.
- Exceptional Keep Warm Function: The machine is highly praised for its ability to keep rice fresh, moist, and delicious for several days without it drying out, yellowing, or developing odors.
- Versatile Grain Settings: Beyond standard white rice, it delivers excellent results for GABA brown rice, steel-cut oatmeal, and congee, with dedicated settings that handle difficult grains with ease.
Cons
- Prohibitive Price: The extremely high cost is the most common complaint, with many users finding it difficult to justify the expense despite the high-quality results.
- Reliability and Part Failures: Several reviewers reported hardware malfunctions shortly after the one-year warranty expired, specifically citing cracked inner lids, steam leaks, and persistent E17 error codes.
- High Maintenance Cleaning: The unit requires significant effort to maintain, as multiple parts must be disassembled, hand-washed, and dried after every use to prevent starch buildup and odors.

Excellent Machine!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.TJ January 18, 2025Review source: AmazonThis is my second Zojirushi rice cooker. I started using these long before Uncle Roger told me to.
This is without question the way to make rice. It’s easy. Even I can make perfect rice every time, and I can barely make a bowl of cereal. It’s really as easy as rinse the rice, add some water, press a button, and come back when the machine plays its song.
I use it for rice frequently, but it also does an amazing job with oatmeal. I use this machine every morning to make breakfast, and it’s always perfect.
I do recommend washing the bowl by hand and not putting it in the dishwasher. I threw the bowl of my last machine in the dishwasher, and it did not hold up long term. That’s what prompted me to replace the machine. I’m sure this is in the instructions I never bothered to read!

Avoid Zojirushi at all costs – overpriced und unreliable
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Fleck December 4, 2024Review source: AmazonI had high hopes for this Zojirushi rice cooker, especially considering the hefty price tag of several hundred dollars. Unfortunately, it has been an enormous disappointment. The unit completely stopped working after just six months of use.
When I reached out to Zojirushi, they instructed me to send the unit in for repair. That was over 10 weeks ago, and I still don’t have my rice cooker back. Their excuse? They’re “waiting for parts.” For a premium brand, this level of service is unacceptable. If they charge premium prices, they should at least stock replacement parts or offer a replacement product when repairs are delayed this long.
I’ve essentially been left without a rice cooker for nearly three months, and Zojirushi has done nothing to make it right. The lack of communication and support shows how little they value their customers.
I strongly recommend avoiding this rice cooker and any other product from Zojirushi. Paying a premium price should mean premium quality and service—not headaches and frustration. Spend your money elsewhere on a brand that stands behind its products.

Risotto in a ricemaker?
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Buyer18940 December 1, 2024Review source: AmazonDecided to go hard first time using a rice maker and tossed in Arborio plus seasonings. Didn’t measure water, just added more than I guessed it would need. Chose Sushi setting (short grain).
Mind blown!!!
The result was certainly not risotto, there was zero creaminess, but the rice was totally amazing! Each kernel absolute perfection.
The manual is very detailed and I look forward to reading it in order to learn more about this brilliant machine, but all I did was wash the interior components and choose which button to push. I didn’t read the manual and found the cooker super easy to figure out.
In order to test it some more, we left it on “warm” overnight. Sure enough, that rice was still perfect this morning.
So happy! -

Broken After 2 Years !!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Adam November 13, 2024Review source: AmazonWhen first purchased and used up to the last day the unit worked it was an amazing machine. If you are looking for perfect rice or any other type of grain this is the unit to buy (if your okay with it not turning on after 2 years). Will update review if a warranty can be filed.

The unit malfunctioned within one year of purchase.
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Peter November 5, 2024Review source: AmazonI am an electrical engineer with over 30 years of experience. The unit in question ceased functioning within one year of purchase, despite limited and appropriate use. Upon returning the unit to the designated service center, I received a response attributing the malfunction to a series of unlikely component defects, alleging that the damage resulted from my actions. The service center provided an estimate for repair costs exceeding $450. Given these circumstances, I find the proposed repair costs excessive, particularly as similar Tiger units, available through retailers such as Costco or Amazon for approximately $100, offer superior reliability and value.

Low quality/RUST!!
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Gogshock October 8, 2024Review source: AmazonI purchased the above via amazon resale late August. I have used 3-4 times and every time I could see some brown residue on the lid when I would take it down to clean it. Recently it was even worse and took a lot to wipe, so on inspection it is definitely rust.
Amazon customer service just reiterated the return policy which has elapsed.
Zojirushi denied refund or paying for lid replacement, saying that this can happen with hard water. They also recommended I could purchase a new one on my own or clean the rust with vinegar (hahaha)Two things other than the indifference of either of these companies for an expensive piece of equipment that has had issues since the beginning:
Have been using Kuckoo for years without the slightest issue and using the same exact water. Having rust on a home appliance in contact with food is not acceptable or expected, and there was no accumulation after time, I have used it quite literally 3-4 times -
Disappointed- strong plastic odor and behind in technology and performance
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Shopaholics September 10, 2024Review source: AmazonI really wanted to like this rice cooker, especially with its high ratings, but it didn’t meet our expectations especially considering the high price tag. Right from the first use, there was a strong plastic off-gassing odor during cooking. We tried everything, different cleaning methods, airing it out but the smell was so embedded that we couldn’t get rid of it.
Another big issue was the cooking time. It took over 50 minutes to cook rice for our family of four, while our previous brand could do it in under 15 minutes on turbo mode. As a family that eats rice daily, this just wasn’t going to work for us.
On top of that, the rice wasn’t as fluffy as what we’re used to with other brands. The quality and consistency just weren’t there. After a few tries, we decided to switch back to our old brand, which not only cooks better rice but also seems to have more advanced technology and is more mindful of VOCs.
