Pros & Cons
Pros
- Superior Rice Quality: The pressure induction heating technology produces perfectly fluffy, sweet, and consistent rice that users claim surpasses restaurant quality and standard fuzzy logic models.
- Exceptional Keep Warm Function: The machine is highly praised for its ability to keep rice fresh, moist, and delicious for several days without it drying out, yellowing, or developing odors.
- Versatile Grain Settings: Beyond standard white rice, it delivers excellent results for GABA brown rice, steel-cut oatmeal, and congee, with dedicated settings that handle difficult grains with ease.
Cons
- Prohibitive Price: The extremely high cost is the most common complaint, with many users finding it difficult to justify the expense despite the high-quality results.
- Reliability and Part Failures: Several reviewers reported hardware malfunctions shortly after the one-year warranty expired, specifically citing cracked inner lids, steam leaks, and persistent E17 error codes.
- High Maintenance Cleaning: The unit requires significant effort to maintain, as multiple parts must be disassembled, hand-washed, and dried after every use to prevent starch buildup and odors.

Great rice but poor durability and warranty very much not exist

Our first one of this model purchased back Sep 2021, and get ERROR code E13 at Jan 2023. This rice cooker only come with 1 year limited warranty. And the service referral we got from Zojirushi for northeast US is Turnpike Appliance Service-Oceanside at Oceanside, New York. Let’s say, what a joke, their website looks like from the 90s, you cannot submit the repair request online that page is broken. Try to call? You can only try to reach them Monday to Friday 9 AM to 3 PM EST. I have called at least 10 times and no one ever would pick up your call. So we purchase a second one from Amazon. This time, we paid extra for the asurion warranty. Feb 2024, the second one got error code of E17, reached out to Zojirushi, same old same. Asurion warranty comes to save my wallet this time, reimbursed my purchase with Amazon gift card.
Zojirushi used to be known for it is build quality. My family used to have one last for over a decade when I was a child. I am so disappointed now. Everyone at my house hold like the rice made from Zojirushi rice cooker. So I am on my third one now, this time purchase with Best Buy since I have member ship with them and they offer free two year warranty and extended warranty can be purchased with lower price.

Noisy and high maintenance
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Van September 6, 2024Review source: AmazonThis machine is not like the traditional rice cooker where you just put in your rice and it will cook it and keep warm. Similar to a microwave, it will beeps if you don’t fluff the rice right after it’s done cooking. When it’s in keep warm mode, it will make this small vibrating sound every internal.
Also, it requires more cleaning than a normal rice cooker, normal ones you can just get away with running a cooking cycle with clean water and you’re 90% good. This thing wants you to take off the lid AND wipes the top afterward.
This thing is not worth it price at all. -

Best Rice I've Ever Had
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Kyle August 25, 2024Review source: AmazonDo you want restaurant quality rice? And I mean /good/ quality restaurant rice? This is the cooker. I used to use a pressure cooker and it did fine, but this has elevated our rice to an absolutely delightful level. I haven’t tried anything beyond jasmine rice at the time of writing, but even if I only ever used it for jasmine rice it would still have been worth the purchase.
Also it has a cheery jingle when it’s done. Do you like rice and happy jingles? Of course you do. Don’t let me try to persuade you, but the rice definitely will. Just make sure you follow the included instructions.

Just press the buy button, you won't regret it
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.K. Mui July 30, 2024Review source: AmazonI had to replace my old zojirushi fuzzy neuro rice cooker and I tried their competitors from a prominent korean company and another japanese company since this rice cooker hurts my wallet. The biggest feature about this rice cooker is the induction heating and pressure cooking which seemed like buzzwords but it makes a huge difference. If you have an instant pot, you know what I mean when you have that juicy pressure cooked rice. Imagine that quality rice but more homogenous and in a nonstick container so you don’t have to scrape at the pot after you’re done with your rice. The rice here blows the rice from my old zojirushi fuzzy neuro out of the water.
With the korean competitor, on paper it looks better. It’s half the price of a comparable zojirushi with the same induction heating and pressure cooking. It cooks rice at half the time 25 – 30 minutes vs 50-55 minutes. There’s a lot more functions such as scorched rice and what not. I’ve tried it and it’s incredibly temperamental. It tries to do everything and is the master of none. The rice from this korean competitor is subpar compared to the zojirushi. This zojirushi takes a bit longer to make rice, it has less settings, but it does everything perfectly. But what really stood out is the price of the parts. It’s actually cheaper and easier to get replacement parts for this zojirushi if anything were to happen in the future. That is something else you’re paying for, the availability of OEM parts 5 – 6 years from now.
If money is an issue, I’d still get the induction heated version of this rice cooker, but I would highly suggest splurging ever so slightly for the pressure cooking version instead. Over the span of the lifetime of the product, it’s pennies.

Amazing rice
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Patrick Dzialek July 27, 2024Review source: Amazon10/10. Rice is better than restaurant rice. Fantastic product. Can even cook half a cup of rice and comes out great or 3 cups. Always consistent results. Used short grain Japanese rice and a jasmine / curry mix. Curry smell might stay after hand washing so be careful with that.

Error code
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Ruth R. June 24, 2024Review source: AmazonArrived today, was very excited to try it out but E17 error code with every setting I tried. Also came without the manual and the measuring cups, some minor scratches and dents. Very disappointing but I should have known as I took a chance on an open box product. Would have expected Amazon to check prior to shipping.
