I always admired the texture and taste of the good rice in some of the best restaurants. Finally, I can say my own rice is as good as some of the best ones. I think one of the differences with this cooker is that steam comes out strongly during the cooking process, so there was real boiling instead of mere soaking in hot water.
The ratio of rice and water has to be exactly right. I measure exactly two or three cups of rice. After rinsing, I put the pot on a scale when I add water, so I know exactly how much water I put in. I adjust the amount of water to suit my taste, and then I do the same every time, and the rice comes out exactly right every time.

It is broken in 57 days!

Then we contacted Zojirushi customer service department, and we were told that we need to send the cooker to their repair shop in New York. The office closes at 3:30, and today is Friday. We will be unable to cook any rice for a long time.

There, we said it, it’s good to let it out. I think I can safely say the washing instructions (for the rice) is big deal for any rice cooker. I didn’t know that. And it makes quite a difference. I have done steel cut oats beside my Bismatti rice and it came out perfect. As does the rice. I love the options. It looks intimidating to learn but it’s real easy. I love this rice cooker, it’s fantastic. Did I mention I love the options.. Just keep in mind short/normal grain rice only, The instruction manual does mention how to handle long grain rice, but I’m not sure how exacting it is. Still love it.

Usually cook a california extra fancy rice and also cook jasmine rice. It is seriously great. every. single. time. Thought we’d use it 2x/mo, but because it works out so well, we actually make rice more often now (2x/wk). Kids love it way more than the stove top cooking nonsense we were trying to live with before this purchase.
Even twice we left the leftover rice in the cooker overnight (oops), but in the morning, the rice was simply warm and ready. It was not burned or dried out. I was impressed… and proceeded to eat the rice for my meal.
Follow the directions for washing the rice. I watched the video which was way easier to understand. Measure exactly each time. Your rice will be great every time.
Cleaning seems complicated when you read the manual. Nowadays, we just simply use mild dishsoap and warm water for all the parts that need clean. Seems to be going well. The cooker is remaining clean, without smells, and I have not seen any discoloration, scratching, or unintentional damage from normal handling and cleaning.

Everything that I’ve tried cooking has come out perfect. Rice, brown rice, porridge, congee, everything.
Yes, the rice takes longer to cook, but I simply start cooking the rice, timing it to finish when my main courses finish.
As for cleaning it, yes, you need to take things apart, wash, dry, and reattach.
But don’t you need to do this also with other cooking appliances? Mandolins, pressure cookers, food processors, air fryers, and other such appliances?
I enjoy it and I use it.

This is not your ordinary rice cooker. All I keep saying is “where has this been all my life!”. It makes life so much easier. Please make note of how much water your putting in on your first use. I made a mistake and overfilled – causing water to bubble up through vents. The only downside needing to have it on the counter – it’s not small. But it’s worth it. Perfect white rice – excellent tasty GABA rice! The price is a little extreme so it took me a couple of years to take the plunge. My only regret is – I wish I would have bought it sooner.
