Highlights

Advanced Fuzzy Logic with AI Utilizes Artificial Intelligence to 'learn' from past cooking experiences, automatically adjusting the cooking flow to ensure consistent, ideal results every time.
Pressure Induction Heating (IH) Combines pressurized cooking with superior induction heating to turn beta starch into alpha starch, resulting in rice that is softer, fluffier, and easier to digest.
Platinum Infused Inner Pan Features a 1.7mm platinum-infused nonstick inner cooking pan that alkalizes the water, breaking down the protein on the surface of the rice grain for a sweeter taste.
Versatile Multi-Menu Settings Offers specialized programs for a wide variety of grains, including Jasmine rice, Congee, Steel Cut Oatmeal, GABA brown rice, and a unique Umami setting for enhanced flavor.
Superior Safety & Design Engineered with multiple fail-safe measures for safe pressure cooking, including a large steam vent cap to prevent overflows and sensors to ensure the unit is set up correctly.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Superior Rice Quality: The pressure induction heating technology produces perfectly fluffy, sweet, and consistent rice that users claim surpasses restaurant quality and standard fuzzy logic models.
  • Exceptional Keep Warm Function: The machine is highly praised for its ability to keep rice fresh, moist, and delicious for several days without it drying out, yellowing, or developing odors.
  • Versatile Grain Settings: Beyond standard white rice, it delivers excellent results for GABA brown rice, steel-cut oatmeal, and congee, with dedicated settings that handle difficult grains with ease.

Cons

  • Prohibitive Price: The extremely high cost is the most common complaint, with many users finding it difficult to justify the expense despite the high-quality results.
  • Reliability and Part Failures: Several reviewers reported hardware malfunctions shortly after the one-year warranty expired, specifically citing cracked inner lids, steam leaks, and persistent E17 error codes.
  • High Maintenance Cleaning: The unit requires significant effort to maintain, as multiple parts must be disassembled, hand-washed, and dried after every use to prevent starch buildup and odors.

  1. You can taste the difference…

My wife loves this rice cooker. I bought it as a replacement to a Tiger branded rice cooker we had for 10+ years.

You can tell the difference in the taste of the rice. Whether it is worth the money is up to the individual.

  2. After a year, rice gets smelly after a day

Steam leaks, lid cracked after a year of use. Too much pressure cracks lid. Rice goes bad next day with moisture.

We had a prior one of this brand for a decade. The digital display gave out but it still work well. Finally replaced it to get this LEMON. The times for all of the rice varieties are double and the rice is done at the half point on any of those displays so if you leave it on for the full time you have dried out rice. Why bother with it. It’s not convenient and now just taking up valuable counter and cabinet space. Would not recommend until they fix this “AI” problem in their programming.

My last less expensive Zojirushi cooker was broken after many years of use. I purchased this one as a birthday gift with a high expectation given the price of it. I’m disappointed. It is not better than other cheap cookers. A simple high-pressure cooker without sophisticated functions makes way better rice than this one.

  6. Perfect rice – Always

Do you really need a $400+ rice cooker? Probably not. I can cook rice in a pot, but you gotta be near it. Especially it being a stainless steel pot and the cover isn’t glass. You really gotta listen for that boil.

This changes everything. You give your rice a good wash. Usually I do 6-7 gentle scrubs and then 6-7 rinses. Let the rice dry for 10 mins. Then I fill to about 2-3mm under the recommended line. First time around I was on the line, and the rice felt a bit too mushy for my liking. Then I cooked it on the umami option. 74 mins that I don’t have to worry about taking care of my rice. I can relax, clean, or take care of the other things for breakfast/ lunch/ or dinner. Once the rice is done don’t forget to fluff it. The best part is having the keep warm option. I’ve had rice taste as fresh as ever 3 days later when I finish it.

One of the other things I’ve noticed is the rice does taste sweeter. We’re not talking about a candy sweetness, but a natural sweetness. It’s subtle but it’s there. Zojirushi claims it’s from the platinum pot and the pressure feature. Whatever it is, it does taste better than the rice cooked in a pot. I look forward to using all the other different rice options and even testing out some oats.

The machine isn’t difficult to clean. You remove the pot, slide up one other, push an orange button to release the top part. I hand wash all those and then take a warm damp towel and scrub the inside. Especially the top part.

Certainly an excellent rice cooker. The rice is much easier to eat once it’s cooked 🙂 I wish the rice cooker would be a bit cheaper though.

My Zojirushi NS-LAC05 never disappointed in the many years I’ve had it and still works fine but this model intrigued me so decided to bite the price bullet and give it a shot. That was seven months ago and zero regrets. I really like Sukoyaka Brown Rice-Genmai, made using the GABA setting. It always comes out perfect and delicious and with the timer the 3+ hour cooking time is pretty easy to deal with. Steel Cut Oats come out great too. I eat a lot of both now. My old one can’t make GABA Brown Rice at all so this is a game changer, and measuring marks and a dedicated setting for steel cut oats makes preparing them significantly easier now. It was 3X what the other one cost but gets 10X the use and lives on the counter as the most used small appliance I own. Cleaning is pretty easy. A few ounces of water in the bowl, couple drops dish detergent and stir with a nylon bristle bottle brush and swish it around the top and bottom of the inner lid, rinse and done. However, If you don’t eat rice or steel cut oats very often the expense may not be worth it for you.

I love all Japanese and Korean brand rice cookers. This one is the second brand we bought and love it!
My rice always comes out perfect and delicious.

  10. Must add rice

    Elliott Mccrory November 29, 2023

It had been on my counter for 6 weeks now, and it hasn’t yet produced cooked rice. My wife says that I have to add the rice and the water (get this!) by hand! Sheesh! At this price, I expect it to go out and harvest the rice, dig the well for the water, and press go all by itself. But noooo!

In also have this problem with my so-called self-driving Tesla. It just sits in my garage – it never has driven itself anywhere.
