Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Exceptional Value: Reviewers frequently highlight the monitor as a 'steal' for its price, offering high-end specs like 1440p resolution and a 180Hz refresh rate that typically cost much more.
  • Highly Adjustable Stand: The build quality is praised for being sturdy and premium, featuring a tool-less assembly and a stand that allows for extensive height, tilt, swivel, and pivot adjustments.
  • Smooth Gaming Performance: Users report buttery smooth gameplay with no screen tearing or ghosting, thanks to excellent G-Sync and FreeSync compatibility across PC and modern consoles.

Cons

  • No Integrated Audio or Aux Port: A major complaint is the total absence of built-in speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack, which complicates audio setups for console gamers who do not use headsets.
  • Underwhelming HDR: Multiple reviews describe the HDR performance as 'terrible' or 'unusable,' noting that it often results in low brightness and washed-out colors.
  • Calibration and Tint Issues: Some customers reported that the display had a noticeable blue or orange tint out of the box, requiring significant manual calibration to achieve accurate colors.

Customer Fit

  • Primary audience: Competitive and mid-core gamers who want fast, tear-free 1440p performance on PC or console, with high refresh rate, low latency feel, and adaptive sync.
  • Secondary audience: Multifunction home users (work + play) who split the screen for emails, documents, or multiple tabs and still want sharp, comfortable visuals.
  • Ideal scenarios: Fits desks where a 27" display is the “sweet spot,” replaces older 1080p panels or living-room TVs, supports Xbox / PS-style console gaming at high frame rates, and doubles as a daily work monitor.

Alienware – AW2725DM 27″ IPS LED QHD 180Hz 1ms FreeSync and G-Sync Gaming Monitor with HDR (HDMI, DisplayPort). Oh the size! I completely love it not to big or small the color is awesome make some adjustments and it was perfect to my taste. Even with the low blue light solution it helped with less eye strain without taking away from the color. Images are nice clear and sharp. I was effy about the stand size at first thinking due to the small size the screen would not be sturdy but it was perfect not cheaply made. It comes with 1 power cord, 1 HDMI cable two HDMI slots, has slots for one USB Type-A and one USB Type-B, a joystick slot and a security lock slot. How really like how the ports are neat and straight across the bottom middle back of the screen with cable being all face down for an easier better look & on the display stand it has a slot to put the wires through to make it look even neater. Has a 4 millisecond response time with an LED screen. It isn’t touch screen but for me not a big deal, what is a big deal kinda it does not have a speaker! It also doesn’t have a webcam which I don’t care about but just in case someone does for the cost of the screen you would think they would have come built in, would highly recommend purchasing it’s perfect.

  3. Great Mid-Range Monitor!

This is currently my favorite monitor I own! At 27 inches with QHD, an IPS display, HDR capabilities and 180hz refresh rate with Freesync/G-Sync, I find that both looking at and using it for anything, be it work, playing games, etc. is always a great experience! Simply put, its size, display colors, contrast, brightness, and refresh rate really make an awesome combination that is hard to beat in the midrange monitor category! There are certainly monitors with a faster response time than the 4ms this monitor has, as well as higher peak screen brightness, but I honestly can’t notice the 4ms response time causing any visual blur as a casual gamer, and find that, while I personally have never had an issue with the peak brightness, the anti-glare (matte) screen can help improve visibility in times where I would maybe wish the screen is brighter! The monitor’s design is also very nice and fits cleanly on my desk, with a futuristic yet still simple design, an effective build with a sturdy stand (with built in cable management feed-throughs) and a simple base, adjustable height and viewing angles, and ample ports (a variety of USB-A, HDMI and a DisplayPort). There are also many settings, personalizations and preset modes that can be made in the monitor’s settings menu for optimizing your viewing experience with the monitor, as well as features such as Dark Stabilizer to lighten the screen when dark images are shown (helpful in Minecraft caves) and Alienvision that allow you to put a few types of physical crosshairs (crosshairs, heatmaps and boxes) on your screen when gaming. Something that I will also note that I have found unpleasant during use is the auto-detection of alternate display sources can be overly sensitive and sometimes randomly interfere with my regular use if you have multiple input sources connected to the monitor at once, but manually setting a source can solve this issue!

  4. What Problem Is This Solving – Who Is This For

Unboxing the new Alienware AW2725DM monitor was incredibly satisfying. The protective layers of wrapping showed images of how the three pieces should be connected – the riser clasped easily into the monitor before connecting to a base that allowed for a connection that did not need any tools. Thankfully, the base was a heavy metal base instead of an inverted “V” shaped base.

Alas, the satisfaction waned from there.

My first problem was that, after much troubleshooting, I found out that these monitors don’t have any speakers inside – even poor rudimentary speakers. I had to do a background check, but NONE of my older or newer monitors came without speakers. I am literally using an old monitor of mine for a bedroom TV/Netflix/Amazon display and I am using it without external speakers.

Initial connection (HDMI) to several computers left me underwhelmed. Gaming and video aside, the image production looked dim, and inconsistent, and blah. Image brightness was always poor and, occasionally, simple monitor images like text looked imperfect.

From that point, I needed to ask myself what value this new offering provided.

I wish that OLED TVs and monitors might have suddenly dropped in price by 60+% or so but that is not the case here.

Alienware, which is part of Dell’s branding targeted at gamers, is promoting this monitor on a ton of specifications: size, resolution, panel type, refresh rate, response time, adaptive sync, HDR certification, color gamut, contrast ratio, ports, and price. But price aside, Dell/Alienware has produced 27” monitors with nearly identical specifications for years now – so that begs the question of what, exactly, is this new release offering. Best Buy is definitely offering a cool price relative to earlier similar offerings from Alienware/Dell but it isn’t offering new features.

And I feel like my own experiences with this monitor are sad: wonky unsatisfying straight images on some computers, lovely moving images that bordered on looking like IMAGES of moving images (unnatural), and I still don’t know how any monitor doesn’t come with even the worst speakers installed.

My overall impression of this monitor is that it could be an adequate-to-sub-adequate monitor for standard business uses. It scores a little bit better with me on moving images, but the images feel overwrought and oddly fake to me.

But I think that the most important consideration here is that Alienware/Dell is NOT offering a new device with crazy new features. It feels like they are pushing very old specs at a new price point.

    Very disappointed here.

The first thing I look for on a monitor is the color. Considering this is an LED I wasn’t thinking it would be that great, but after using it for a bit its actually surprisingly good. The blacks look decent and the other colors do have a pop to it. They don’t look as washed out as I have seen on other monitors I’ve tried.

The setup is pretty easy too, just take the stand out and pop it on the monitor and hand tighten a few screws. It slides up and down on the stand which is nice, so you can adjust the height however you want. The one thing that it doesn’t have is speakers, which most of my other gaming monitors do have however they are so bad I never use them so its not really a bad thing ,but something to know if you do not have another speaker.

There isn’t too much extra, just make sure when you connect it you set the refresh rate up as mine was lower. But everything kind of plug an plays, and I didn’t spend much time doing any adjustments and it worked good. You have the standard menus to change things and also change input, so its like any monitor you may have used.

Overall, its a pretty good monitor for the price. If you spend more and get an OLED you’ll get better colors, but this one is actually very good from my usages.

Okay, so let me start by saying I am not a gamer. My son, however, is deep into all things gaming—and after his constant (and convincing) “suggestions,” we finally upgraded to this Alienware 27” monitor. I’ll admit, I originally thought it was a bit over the top, but now that we’ve been using it, I totally get the hype.

Right out of the box, the monitor looks sharp—sleek black design, super clean lines, and the signature Alienware look. Even I think it’s cool. Setup was a breeze (which I appreciated), and it comes with both HDMI and DisplayPort options, which made it easy to hook up to both my work laptop and my son’s gaming setup.

My son says the 180Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time make a huge difference in his games. He plays everything from Fortnite to Call of Duty. He mentioned something about FreeSync and G-Sync reducing screen tearing—I’ll take his word for it. He has stopped complaining about lag and frame drops.

I use the monitor during the day for basic things—email, Zoom calls, editing photos, and watching shows while I work—and I love the bright, clear display. The colors are rich without looking too harsh, and it’s big enough to comfortably split screen if I need to juggle tasks. The matte screen also helps cut glare from my nearby window.

We watched a movie on it the other night, and the HDR really does make a difference—the picture was crisp and vibrant, almost like a mini home theater.

The monitor doesn’t have built-in speakers, so keep that in mind (we already had a set of desktop speakers). It’s adjustable (tilt/swivel/height), which is great since we share it.

If you’re a household that mixes work, school, and high-stakes gaming like we do, this monitor strikes the perfect balance. It’s fast, gorgeous, and totally future-proof. My son’s thrilled, I’m happy, and we’re both getting a lot of use out of it.

This is the Alienware 27 Gaming Monitor – AW2725DM 27″ IPS LED QHD 180Hz 1ms.

IPS, so the screen doesn’t dim when you’re not looking straight on. Great for photo & video editing and gaming. 27 inches diagonal. Not ultra-wide, but definitely capable as a solo monitor for active gaming.

Also plays nicely with a second monitor thanks to the fully featured stand.

Stand offers tilt (-5° to +21°), swivel (±20°), pivot (±90°), and ~4″ vertical height adjustment.

Plenty of rotation, tilt up/down, and about 4 inches of vertical adjustment. This is one of my favorite things about the design. It sucks when you get a monitor that can’t adjust at all, and this one just gets it right.

This monitor is gaming ready. NVIDIA® G-SYNC™ support eliminates tearing and cuts down on stutter and input lag, giving a smoother, faster gaming experience in 3D titles.

It’s got TMDS, HDR, VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), 2 HDMI ports, and 1 DisplayPort.

It doesn’t beat OLED on contrast, but you avoid burn-in worries—and save a chunk of money.

Games look great, especially my favorite, Fortnite.
