Pros & Cons
Pros
- Simple and Quick Setup: Many reviewers found the initial installation process to be exceptionally easy, with some reporting they were able to start printing within minutes of unboxing.
- Excellent Print Quality: The printer is frequently praised for producing sharp, clear text and vibrant photos, with several users noting it performs better than previous models from other brands.
- Compact and Space-Efficient: The small footprint of the device is a major highlight for users with limited desk space, making it an ideal choice for home offices and small business environments.
Cons
- High Ink Consumption and Cost: A recurring complaint is that the printer 'eats' ink quickly, and the cost of replacement cartridges is often described as expensive or nearly the price of the printer itself.
- Unreliable Wireless Connectivity: Numerous users reported that the printer frequently goes offline or loses its Wi-Fi connection, requiring constant troubleshooting or a switch to a wired USB connection.
- Lack of Duplex Scanning: Despite having an Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), the device does not support automatic double-sided scanning, which was a deal-breaker for several customers.

The TR7820: A basic printer cosplaying as a multifunction device
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Review 123 July 21, 2025Review source: AmazonAs with most base-tier multifunction printers, this one has its faults. The ADF has never worked. It has never identified a sheet(s) placed into the feeder. Need to copy a multipage document? Do it one sheet at a time on the platen glass. Need to scan a multipage document? Manually place each page on the platen glass and tap “scan”. The Canon TR7820 is a basic printer dressed up to look like a multifunction device.

Just ok
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.Ed in the Glen July 16, 2025Review source: AmazonJust ok. It jams often and frequently says ‘no paper’ where there is paper in the tray. Price is reasonable and it’s for personal use (infrequent) so we live with it.

Confusing
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product.JoeC June 29, 2025Review source: BestbuyWorks well but extremely difficult and confusing to set up. It asks for a MAC address, which I had no clue where to find even after many internet searches, find and which I never had to enter for any other printer setup. Naturally ATT would not answer the phone. Finally I took a guess and picked one of choices it offered me and luckily it looks like I guessed the right one and got it working.
