It would seem that quality control is not ideal with this product. -

I used to have a model from a different manufacturer and it had a basket that you’d load your food into and slide into the machine. My bread would start flying around inside the basket and stick on to the heating element and burn, I’d have to wrap it in foil to prevent this. This was my big reason for purchasing a model like this, where I can watch the food cook and it doesn’t blow around. It works great, heats fast, and is easy to clean. I recommend it if you’re looking for a solution for flying food.

It appears that it is just superficial damage and has not affected the interior walls, and I have used it without any issues so far, but It is a slightly concerning, if not just disappointing aesthetically. I’m almost certain the damage did not happen during shipping because it was fully encased in a thick block of styrofoam and in a completely undamaged box, so It must’ve occurred before it was packaged. It appears as if something heavy was stacked or thrown on top of it.
In terms of actual use, it’s been very easy to use and everything that I’ve air fried or toasted has come out perfectly! We actually have a different model of air fryer from the same brand (Vortex Plus) and I would say this one does a better job at air frying even though that isn’t it’s only function. I’ve noticed that food in the Vortex Plus tends to be harder and dryer, while this air fryer makes things crispier without overcooking anything. I like how much easier it is to see things cooking as well and the window is beautifully crystal clear. There are a lot of rack options and I really like using the basket while keeping foil over the tray underneath for easy cleaning.
Overall, I do really like this as an upgrade to the Vortex Plus, as it works better at air frying, in addition to having several more cooking options. However, the quality control is either lacking and negligent or I just got extremely unlucky with the dents that arrived with it, so keep that in mind.

I made 2 items using air fryer function and the chicken skin was not crispy. The fish tasted baked. The time to cook was not shorter. The other reviews is why I purchased this but my experience is not similar. For $200, I expected more. I also noticed the bottom heating element never comes on no matter the setting used. Maybe I have the one defective unit. I have reached out to instapot but I’m unsure of the resolution. Maybe I will just return it
Update 10/9: instapot sends me a replacement item obviously because mine is faulty. I was planning to send the new one to return. I get the replacement and it’s a different model that costs less. Now what!!??
Update 11/2: instapot sent me another replacement for the correct item. I returned it to Amazon for a full refund just in the nick of time. I’m happy I received a full refund
