Pros & Cons
Pros
- Exceptional Picture Quality: The QD-OLED panel provides deep, inky blacks, vibrant colors, and high contrast that significantly outperforms IPS and VA panels. The glossy coating is frequently praised for making the image 'pop' and maintaining superior clarity in dark rooms.
- High-End Gaming Performance: With a 4K resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate, the monitor offers incredible motion clarity and responsiveness. Users report a 'buttery smooth' experience with near-instant response times that are ideal for both competitive and immersive single-player games.
- Competitive Pricing and Value: It is widely regarded as one of the most affordable 4K 240Hz OLED monitors on the market. Reviewers noted it provides the same high-quality Samsung panel as much more expensive competitors, making it a 'steal' for the specs provided.
Cons
- Intrusive OLED Care Maintenance: The 'Panel Protect' feature frequently interrupts users with un-dismissible pop-ups or forced shutdowns during active gaming or work sessions. Users report that the monitor remains unusable for 7-15 minutes during the cycle and often fails to turn back on automatically afterward.
- Limited Connectivity and Features: Compared to the URX model, this version lacks a KVM switch and only provides 15W power delivery over USB-C, which is insufficient for charging most laptops. Some users also found the power cord to be too short and the joystick controls on the back difficult to navigate by feel.
- Fragile Build and Slow Wake-up: The screen coating is reported to be extremely fragile and prone to micro-scratches even when cleaned with a microfiber cloth. Additionally, the monitor has a notably slow wake-up time from sleep mode, often taking 5-10 seconds to display an image.

Same panels and glossy, so the color really pops. You can’t update the firmware of this monitor, but it’s a non-issue for me as I never really bother to update unless there is a major bug that makes the monitor unuseable. This monitor does not have any issues like that so MSI nailed it.

Best value QD-OLED with some caveats
Verified purchase Verified purchase: This reviewer bought the product. Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.JeremyL April 2, 2024Review source: BestbuyThis is the best value 4K QD-OLED monitor there is! If the firmware was able to be updated like the slightly more expensive MPG321URX model then it would be perfect. The minor issues that the MAG model currently has that would easily be resolved with a firmware update are that the color profiles are not separate between SDR and HDR, and the monitor powers off after performing a panel refresh rather than returning to standby mode. Other than those two minor issues, this monitor offers the superb performance that is on par with more expensive QD-OLED offerings without breaking the bank.

end game monitor

Screen is spotless out of the box thanks to the thin plastic film they ship it covered with
Stand is sturdy and easy to adjust
Passively cooled so there is no fan to worry about
sRGB mode works perfectly, allowing SDR content to be viewed accurately
MSRP in the US is $250 less than the Alienware and $350 less than the ASUS, plus you can get a free $100 Steam gift card from MSI if you buy one before March 31st
Overall, as pricing stands today, I think this monitor is the best value of the three currently available in the US. Lack of Dolby Vision aside it offers many more features than the Alienware and most of the features of the ASUS while costing hundreds of dollars less. It’s not perfect but I don’t think the issues it has are annoying enough to justify spending more on anything else. In countries where the ASUS is barely more expensive I think it probably is the better choice but in the US the price difference is simply too large.

After using both monitors, I returned the PG32UCDM. This monitor for the price is a fantastic deal, and does 90% of what the competition does for a fraction of the price. Giving 4 stars because no firmware updates is a joke for a company to market at this price, but oh well. Grab the warranty to give yourself peace of mind in case issues were to occur in the future.

Terrible Terrible Terrible

Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.MikeB March 1, 2024Review source: BestbuyTerrible Terrible Terrible tell me how does not including the option of making firmware updates to a 1000 dollar monitor make any sense. Huge list of issues sRGB getting stuck switching to HDR causing incorrect color clamping, pixel refresh not running when monitor off, and many more that will never be fixed. Brightness sucks on full screen white scenes ~150 nits, do not buy.

Good so far

Incentivized Incentivized review: The reviewer received a benefit for sharing feedback.Suminod February 28, 2024Review source: BestbuyI am aware of the no firmware updates. Monitor is really nice so far looks good, no problems as far as i can tell. Ya, the firmware decision by MSI is dumb but we have heard that before and it turned out to be a lie anyway, talking to you AW3423DW. I do believe that MSI, if they wanted to, could easily push updates out if push back is great enough but thats why I buy from bestbuy. If the firmware turnsout to be a massive issue geeksquad is the best overall investment. Pretty sure MSI wont care if I or another consumer complains but if bestbuy complains because there are so many returns/warranty claims/instore RMA’s and what not then tou will see things change. That all said the monitor is pretty great and doesnt have all the useless nonsense like RGB or the KVM switch that woupdnt auto switch via display input anyway so who cares
